Pakistan to crack down on 17 banned terror groups

.
Nice move by Pakistan, hope they crack down them sooner.

JuD a terror outfit, admits Pakistan

Interesting and a good development by Pakistani authorities. Its sad to note that what could have been taken care of earlier was forced by a recent terrorist attack. But then, better late than never. Good riddance I say.

Now before some members start attacking me or the Indian news source, here's a Pakistani source:

Punjab govt to take action against 17 banned groups

The groups I underlined in the above article are those which IIRC are active in India.

Indeed a good move by Pakistan.
I'm willing to await results of this action.

What was that?
:what:

"That" was my reaction early morning while reading this in the papers.

Part exultive vindication, part anticipatory glee at watching some of my old Pakistani brothers squirm out here later in the day.

HTH.

Cheers, Doc

@gubbi
Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Sipah-e-Sahaba are secretarian groups and as far as I know have not been active in India or even in an anti-India agenda like JuD has been

One of the problems I have with these swooping actions is that, much like in Musharraf's time, there is a chance that the full judicial process will not be followed.

They should be arrested and tried. Not arrested and jailed. IF and only IF they are resisting arrest, they should be killed.

Case in point is Jamaat-ud-Dawa. They did not resist arrest and the evidence against them was lacking in credibility. Moreover India wanted to show some sort of superiority and not deal with Pakistan and refused to submit witnesses and evidence in that case.

Absolving full judicial process will not have the nation's buy in and will look like murders.

Punjab bans 23 outfits acting under new names

LAHORE: The Punjab government has banned 23 militant organisations operating under new names after having been outlawed and directed police to keep a strict vigil on 1,690 office-bearers and workers of the outfits after including them in Schedule 4.

According to the provincial home department, Jamaatud Dawa of Hafiz Saeed has not been restricted like others, but Mr Saeed and his two associates have been barred from travelling abroad. Their accounts have been frozen and they will not be able to get arms licences.

Sipah-i-Sahaba, Jaish-i-Muhammad, Laskar-e-Taiba, Tehrik-i-Jafria, Harkatul Jihad Islami, Harkatul Mujahideen, Hizbul Tehrir, Lashkar-i-Jhangvi and Sipah-i-Muhammad had been banned by the Musharraf government in 2002, but most of them started their activities with new names.

Sipah-i-Sahaba was renamed as Millat-i-Islamia Pakistan, Jaish-i-Muhammad as Alfurqan and Khuddamul Islam and Tehrik-i-Jafria as Islami Tehrik Pakistan and Lashkar-e-Taiba as Jamaatud Dawa. Hizbul Tehrir did not change its name.

I feel sorry for all those folks who would now sadly be deprived of the yeoman service and charity work carried out by the JUD.

Though I am sure that soon there would be a "new" organisation which would carry on the good work.

Therefore, cynical as it may sound, I simply do not share the enthusiasm of the younger folk here from both sides.

The more things seem to change, the more they actually remain the same.

Cheers, Doc

Great news and if implemented successfully, this move has a far fetching potential historical milestone in Indo-Pak relationship. Cynisism apart, I believe, India should offer full fledged and unconditional co-operation in elimination of the slow poison of extremist ideologies from the sub-continent in particular. No egos, no big mouth politicians from either side please. And I am hopefull in the light of recent restraint shown by bothe side's foreign secretrary's and P Chidambarams and Rehman Maliks.

One Question though, why only in Punjab?

.
Lets wait and see if there is any real concrete action being taken against terrorist organisations acting against India.

Hopefully this is a step in the right direction.

.
I am a little confused about JuD being in the list. Let us wait for more clarity.

@T-Faz: I don't think this is going to happen....!!!!!!!
Even I am expecting another red hot statement by any indian leader such as 'we are ready for two front war' blah blah......

Even if that happens how thats related to Pakistan deciding to strike home grown terrorists which have be menacing security of whole region including India.

.
TTP is already being fought against, these groups listed are in Punjab based terrorist who were starting to attack other peaceful sects. TTP is being hounded like dogs anyway, expect a more covert action against these groups.

@ WAQAS

Keep your fingers crossed, its only this way that we can move forward otherwise certain groups and the sects they belong to will devour our nation.

Why it should have taken this to come to this conclusion. Our blood , Your blood?
