I dont understand why people cant read properly before giving an opinion. Americans cant just teleport out of Afghanistan, they need to cross from somewhere and that somewhere happens to be Pakistan. However that does not equate to being giving bases which is the believe here. Pakistan hasnt given its base nor it will.

While Pakistan initially denied any military support to the US post the Afghan peace process, Washington just announced to the contrary.

While last week Pakistan completely put down the notion by categorically denying any military aid to the US, only today David F. Helvey, Assistant Secretary of Defence for Indo-Pacific Affairs, announced that Pakistan had agreed to their request.

“Pakistan has played an important role in Afghanistan. They supported the Afghan peace process. Pakistan also has allowed us to have overflight and access to be able to support our military presence in Afghanistan,” Mr. Helvey said.

There were already plenty of rumors that Pakistan’s intentions to build a new airbase in the Nasirabad area of Balochistan province hinted towards this. The proposed airbase would be in the perfect position to allow the US strategic military access into the region.

There was also a high-level meeting in Geneva between Pakistan’s newly appointed National Security Advisor (NSA) Moeed Yusuf and his American counterpart Jake Sullivan focusing on Afghanistan and the US’s departure from it.

This announcement, however, does have far more implications than just military cooperation between the countries. China will most likely not buy the rationale that this move is directed solely towards the situation in Afghanistan.

It is a defacto base. If there are no US bases in Afghanistan and US Troops can deploy from Pakistan, at some point they will literally have to have a location within Pakistan. Not as if they will jump off a ship at Karachi, drive to Torkum, shoot off a few rounds then drive back to Karachi. Government has hid this from us!

Minister's were right i guess we aren't going to provide them with bases. They're exactly doing what they told us. No bases. Nobody said anything about Glocks and Alocks. For the last decade Americans were not sending their forces to fight the talibans they were sending ANA and only supporting them. Only thing americans were doing was airstrikes. They dont need bases in afg or pak to conduct airstrikes in afg. Middle East is full of US bases also not to forget carrier groups. What they want are Alocks for strikes and Glocks probably to send stuff to Afghanistan to support them. Also people sometimes think of talibans as some really might group. Yes they are the biggest in Afg the powerful but if they can fight so can others groups also. As a Pakistani i dont see any problem in providing Alocks to US/Nato but only Alocks, no bases. Pakistan's leverage on talibans is very low now. They haven't forgotten how we threw them under the bus multiple times, the same reason why TTP thrives in afg because talibans let them thrive. Pakistan can pressure them a little, but US also needs to pressure them, otherwise all this going to fall on our face if there is no peace in Afghanistan as soon as possible.

If it's to facilitate the withdrawal, then it's fine. Anything other than that is pure madness from Pakistani establishment.

ISPR needs to take the nation into confidence. These GLOC and ALOC cant be indefinite facilities. They been there since 9/11, all was done without taking the nation into confidence and it's the citizens which ended up paying having price.

These lines of communication bind Pakistan to a conflict, sooner we get ride of them, the better.
