Pakistan to build several mega Nuclear Reactors: Report

it would most likely be russia that would join to supply reactors as western and east asain suppliers dont supply reactors to non npt countries.

Good news, and the non-Chinese vendors come as a surprise but to be honest Pakistan should stick with China for array of many reasons. Where were these other countries when Pakistan needed reactors built?
Anyway it certainly will be a great day when Pakistan can meet its energy needs.

The way I see it, PK needs to stop power generation via oil and gas eventually, and move towards more Hydro, Nuclear, Wind and Solar.

Secondly, work at bringing down the over all cost of using electricity:
a) This would directly promote industrial output,
b) Prevent the common man from stealing, due to its exorbitant price today.

That risk can be mitigated...however the one thing that concerns me is the nuclear waste. In a country like Pak where ppl constantly cut corners to cut costs...I'm not sure how safely they will be containing the nuclear waste.

Not a Great idea ,Considering our country is on the earthquake prone fault lines .
The fallout in such cases can be disastrous killing millions due to windpatterns and radioactive material being carried with it.

Definitely not a fan of nuclear power, apart from the reactors needed for military purposes. Too dangerous. Bring on coal.

Bro compare to oil and gas, it is nothing and you can read few articles on it by using google. Radioactive waste is not that much as you think.

Roughly speaking a 1000 MW nuclear power plant produces about 27 tonnes of spent nuclear fuel (unreprocessed) every year. That may seem little relatively speaking...but it's not so much the quantity of nuclear waste as opposed to how long it can last and the harmful effects if an accident happens(whether to the nuclear power plant or the stored waste).

That may seem little relatively speaking...but it's not so much the quantity of nuclear waste as opposed to how long it can last and the harmful effects if an accident happens(whether to the nuclear power plant or the stored waste).
Well it can be safely stored inside the plant in a pool of water for 10 or so years then it can be safely transported to a site where they can pack in concrete and bury it for eternity.
I have seen irradiated water bays where spent fuel us kept. This is basically what they do in Canada

Subsurface disposal of nuclear waste is a proven method. Like I said, for any human activity there is an impact. It is how you mange those risks and long term liabilities is the critical ask.

I think diversity would be good, new better tech to benchmark Chinese designs and equipment against, competition to Chinese company who probably take Pakistan for granted customer in the absence of other suppliers, creating economic relationships with other countries to enhance our stature as international business partner and economic partner
