ISLAMABAD: National Highway Authority (NHA) would build four-lane Peshawar-Kabul Motorway land acquisition process will be initiated after the finalization of alignment.

An official of NHA told APP that the motorway project will not only improve connectivity between the two neighbours and Central Asian States but would also bring economic prosperity in the adjacent areas. The 265-km Peshawar-Kabul motorway would connect Peshawar with Afghan capital Kabul, via Jalalabad and Torkham.

The motorway,he said, would be divided into three parts, 50 km long Peshawar-Torkham, 76km Torkham-Jalalabad and 139km Jalalabad-Kabul sections.

Can we ease build a Quetta-Multan motorway? Linking balochistan with Punjab would give a huge boost to balochistan's economy! Connectivity in our own country should be of greater importance than connecting with a country which is ungrateful and a hell hole. The motorway wont even be used by Pakistanis rather by afghans trying to enter Pakistan more quickly!

Utter waste of resources. There is no profit by linking ourselves to Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a hell hole and it will stay as such for decades to come.

You really think people who've created and established great PR and relationships from America to China to Russia to Sri Lanka and everything in between are stupid? Pakistan is being run by real diplomats, I don't know if you noticed that.

This is a strategy to put Pakistani goods in the Afghan market, instead of giving access to Indians. Plus, its also a first step in connecting the Central Asian states to Pakistan's highway system to give them access to Pakistani ports.

You guys are too emotional, negative and very quick to jump the gun. The elected people in Pakistan are working on a strategy. If you or I or someone else don't understand it, we should at the least not sound negative, which then makes the entire Pakistan looks negative to people reading these crazy posts.

There is plenty of evidence of good work being done to push Pakistan into a modern state in the next 5-7 years. Just watch, work hard and enjoy the growth!!

There is no strategy here. We dont need a new road link to supply goods to afghanistan as we already have enough road infrastructure. This money should be invested in Pakistan first later we can think about connecting with a nation which is dirt poor with nothing to offer.

"This Money" you are referring to.....wasn't your father's tax income paid to the state of Pakistan. Nor did you "donate" your inheritance to Nation. But yet, you'd talk like you own the entire thing (like many others on here). These funds are coming from the Chinese, and for a REASON. The strategy is to connect the central Russian states with Gawader and with China.

The country giving you $ 46 billion loan, isn't doing so, so they can LOSE the money and the return. They have their goals in mind, and with the government's push towards growing Pakistan, your country becomes the secondary recipient of economic benefits which will be realized through this trade route. So if you guys continue to play negative and piss off the Chinese, you'll remain in dark like you have been for the past 70 years.

You guys are the FIRST nation on the freaking planet that has people who'd like to stay in the cave-men times, instead of making progress :hitwall:!! Take a look at the Indian community and others, and how they remain positive, appreciate and use their country's growth projects for their own growth advantages!!

Good job. Our proximity to Afghanistan has been a curse for us so lets try get the best out of it. India has been bending over backwards to get the corrupt Afghan government under their influence. I really hope this road brings the people of Pak and Afghanistan closer. Plus hopefully we'll get better access to Afghan and Central Asian markets.

I personally feel its a waste investing money in Afghanistan.... Pak despite its own problems and shitty economy has poured in a billion $ in aid to Afghanistan.. And that has made no significant change even in the perception of Pak among afghans who remain ungrateful and full of hatred... Thabks to their incompetent politicians and pathetic military.

Instead of building universities, hospitals, dams and motorways .., we should have built a massive fence (and taken more security precautions).. Keep the afghans out o evil Pakistan.. They dislike so much.

Agree with you to some extent but I believe Pak is already being connected to Central Asia through Xinjiang province of China through CPEC, pak will have to deploy extra security to stop inflow of terrorists through this highway. Area around Jallalabad is already infested with IS & TTP goons !!!

Tera shukriya bhai...
Itne he paise agaie hein Hazrat Sheer shah suri ke pas.MashAllah!

There is something called priorities.Looks like NS knows it better than us.I hope it's that way.
Anything positive out of it.Anything?
Yup.We in Pakistan see a great influx of Afghan patients undergoing treatment / surgeries at some of the well established hospitals, especially in Islamabad/KHI. They may have a smooth and easy access.
Trade is mostly going to be one way as well if there is an opportunity that we want to grab.
Competition with India is another aspect.
Now my afghan neighbors will be able to bring in their gem stones and dry fruits for the Pakistani beauties in time and with out much of a hassle.:D
Perishable food items will be able to survive as a swift mode of transaction will be available.
That is good for the neighbor ,and it may yield some financial gains to the KPK as well.
Hopefully that'll be able to cover the expenditure on the road in few years' time.

I may very well one day like to visit Afghanistan by road and have my last selfie with a caption of "living dangerously."

Perhaps our Bangla brothers can supply some liberal hating hackers to Afghanistan... :P;) I heard they love hacking people to death.

No, we don't want a road that will bring in more Afghan opium and AK-47s into our land. We don't want a road that will bring in more Afghan refugees into our land. Bangla can build a road with Afghanistan if they love them that much. Feel free.

Afghanistan has no future. A failed narcotic state where the Afghan Taliban are calling the shots.

Afghani Apni marwaane ke liye India ko hi bolaen gay ...
its a total waste of money ... we can use this money to create more schools in Pakistan , or arrange Transport to send those Afghans back to their country ..

Pakistan will have to deploy extra security regardless. What you can't afford to do, is to have thousands of Indian trucks ill monitored going through these areas and cause serious infestation of more terrorism (sadly, both the countries need to establish serious protocols to avoid this ongoing drama).

Plus, this is a part of the Chinese plan. Pakistan, on her own economy, can't build this kind of a project. So this is an extension of the CPEC.

Have you ever seen the world map? China's Xinjian or any other province, doesn't like to the Central Russian States directly and in a cost effective manner. The for from China goes to Gawader, and on the other side, to everything towards the Russians and later, to Europe. That route will include Afghanistan too. Just watch!!

Like I said before, if you guys don't want to comprehend the strategy (very well working and proven at this time through PR that the PM is building) there is no need to silly argue. The facts will remain the facts, however much some disagree due to their personal affiliation. I've not seen another nation where people can bastardize a public / national welfare project that would help hundreds of millions of her citizen, ONLY due to personal interests against it.

NLC got a new route and more contracts.
