Mangla dam produces 1000 MW of electricity
Tarbela dam = 3600 MW
Where as the new mega dam diamer Bhasha will have capacity of 4500MW, But just look at the cost of these dam, dam are essential but mega dams of bhasha or tarbela involve huge investment, with 10 years of construction.
Bhasha will cost around 15 $ billion if its construction starts today with its completion in 2020-21.
Keeping in the climate of country pakistan needs a mix of power production units (DAm, nuclear power, Gas turbines, wind turbines, solar and coal)
300MW chasma II power has construction cost of around 56 Rs. billion. Nuclear power plants have high initial cost with construction period of around 5-6 years.
