The problem is US has lost its leverage over Pakistan after cutting the aid, and abusing Pakistani state over social media. America is in no position to dictate anything to Pakistan. Trump with his "nothing but lies and deceit" tweet hammered Pakistan, which was never going to work. Pakistan remained silent throughout, trying to prevent any further escalation in tensions.

Now things on ground have completely changed. The earlier US understands the better it is.
