Armament
The Pantsir-S2 armament consists of two 2A38M 30mm anti-aircraft guns and twelve 57E6-E ready-to-fire missiles in steered launch containers mounted at the rear of an 8x8 truck chassis. The cannons have a combined rate of fire of between 3,900 and 5,000 rounds per minute (1,950 to 2,500 rpm for each gun), and have a muzzle velocity of 960 m/s. Bursts of between 83 and 250 rounds are fired as determined by the target type, with an engagement range between 0.2 and 4.0 km and to an altitude of about 3 km. HE-T and HE-I shells are used and fitted with a A-670 time and impact fuze which includes an arming delay and self destruct mechanism.
Missiles
The Pantsir-2 fires the 57E6-E missiles which has a bicalibre body in tandem configuration, separable booster and sustainer with separation mechanism. The sustainer contains the warhead and contact and proximity fuses. The missile weighs 65 kg at launch and has a maximum speed of 1,100m/s. Range is from 1 km to 12km. It has an expanded engagement zones up to 20 km in range and up to 10 km in altitude. The new missile of Pantsir-S2 will increase the system’s range of fire from 20 to 30 kilometers.
Mobility
The Pantsir-S2 uses a KAMAZ 6560 or MAN 8x8 truck chassis. There is two-man cab at the front of the truck chassis. The truck is motorized with KamAZ-740.35-400 turbocharged diesel engine, developing 400 hp. The truck has a total weight of 14,850 kg and can run at a maximum speed of 90 km with a maximum cruising range of 800 km.
Accessories
The Pantsir-S2 is fitted with a new SOTS S-band search radar (not in pics below) increases detection range from 36 km to over 40 km with 360° coverage. The system can now track in excess of 40 incoming targets up from 8-10, and can now engage targets traveling at up to 1,200 meters per second up from 1,000 m/s. Search azimuth has also been increased from 80° to 90° owed to electronic beam steering. The shape of the new antenna has change and is mounted at the top of the turret.
