What's new

Pakistan takes America to the UN over drone strikes.

NS should stop wasting time of other countries in the UN and let them carry on with some serious business.

Not that I defend NS, but what is actually UN doing, wasting time of all the member states. Except for guarding US interest where they have proved effective.

From where these Drones actually takeoff ???? from 2004 - 2011 ????

"PAKISTAN AIRBASE" so simple.. Pakistan ARMY is involve...

well like in any organization, there are differing views (opinions) within even the military.....but the consensus was that the bases be vacated and thats what happened

doesnt change the fact they can take off from across the border

the govt. quietly endorses the "signature strikes" and its no secret now....protestations and "taking on" this or that is all a white-wash

so ultimately -- either the public can rally and place a formidable pressure on govt or they can be shot down.....it goes down to political will.

UAVs are already flying over parts of the US Mainland and many Americans are perturbed about it

US UAVs flying over parts of the US States and US UAvs flying over Parts of PAKISTAN is completely different story. Like Pakistan's Drone flying over India ... something like that...

I don't think so its still Political will because govt is just RUBBER STAMP nothing else more. Foreign policy made and make by "Establishment known as Pakistan Military". So all these deals regarding WOT btw Pakistan and US Military made by Pakistan Military Establishment.

Senior U.S. officials insist they continue to have a secret agreement with Pakistan, or at least from the army, to conduct drone strikes. Senior Pakistani civilian and military officials have publicly criticized U.S. drone attacks in the past while consenting to them in private.

But even that agreement seems to be based more on Pakistan's fear of what would happen if it stood up to the U.S. on drone strikes, rather than a real desire to see the program continue. Pakistan relies on the U.S. for hundreds of millions of dollars in civilian and military aid, and even more importantly, for support in getting a $5 billion bailout the country desperately needs from the International Monetary Fund.

Raising this issue at the UN is a bad, bad idea unless it's only public consumption back home after taking permission of the US of A to raise this issue at the UN!

On one hand they say that it is done with our consent, runway is provided and they do not take any action against American drone on other hand they complaint in UN.

PAF should just shoot down the drones if Pakistan feel that it undermines their sovereignity - why isnt it doing that?

maybe because orders need to be issued first - a professional Air Force doesnt just act unilaterally

Its diplomatic blunder to take US to UN which is highly biased in its favor, it would have been better if Pak has solved it mutually with some concessions from US as they are not going to stop the attacks till they feel its over
