Pakistan strike deal with IMF

Sorry for going off topic. But it's not that simple. China has more to lose with the IMF deal than Pakistan. CPEC is the vanilla project in and road initiative which is the brain child of ping xi. If this fails he has everything to lose as it can mean as much as being ousted from the top position of communist party. This is really something that really doesn't make sense. 50 billion is nothing to China compared to what is at stake. Things don't add up.
Well the deal if true will not effwct CPEC as its laxed deal focusing more on revenues rather than spending cuts

I doubt the deal is finalised yet. I have heard IK is pleading IMF to lower the conditions. Mis timings and wrong priorities have led to this fiasco. They say "jis ka kaam ussi ko saajay".
12% interst rate is too low in setting of such inflation
How can IK plead IMF to keep petrol prices equal to saudi arabia? Do we have that much oil ?
Why do middle class want to squeez the poor 30% who dont have gas/electricity so they can sleep under AC

The problem is in international arena you are always alone. Although hypothetically speaking even if China lends/donate us $50 Billion it isn't going to help us as all this money would go directly into the pockets of the elite. Unless we don't learn how to stand up our self, no amount of money can help us.

Imporve taxation and dont subsizie the rich ..if u want poor to survive give them that moneu directly

. .
Still flabbergasted on why China doesn't just wave its magic wand and give 50 billion to Pakistan. It will remove all the troubles in paksitan and get it out of IMF trap which undoubtedly has an impact on its flagship cpec project.

it means accepting china's rules and working like Chinese

This is what happens when you do steriods/drugs

Essence if problem of Pakistan is that they believe they can print dollar/gold which they cant..

Why run fiscal deficit of 8%(meaning taking 3000b loan every year) and who is going to give you that loan? Noone..so now what? Print money.. yeah but now rupee loses value so now you need dollars now what? Arabs give u moeny for year but than what?
People of Pakistan need to be responsible for their actions for choosing corrupt people who went to IMF 10 times..

Just give me one answer
Who IS GOING TO LOAN THE 8% fiscal deficit(3000b/year) to you WHO?? Surely this isnt a complicated question ?

If you tell me dont run that deficit ? Than da thats whats IMF is doing but askkng you to run half of the deficit ..

The harsh reality is that IMF is like village head which comes and gives you loan but ask you not to eat one time and he will give you the other time meal..

Pakistani need to grow up and hold their leaders responsible for what happened also learn basics of economy and that no magic wand can fix things in 1 2 3 years but its easy to figure out the direction of things

China helped Pakistan alot the reason why such lax IMF deal was acheieved which is not much different than what we have now..this will end all the woes..basically its simply an extension of current loan of 5.8b$..most of time i dont reply because you like guys take out of your behind...IMF SAID TO MAINTAIN SAME DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS basically IMF endrosed the CPEC lol even though govt wanted to cut development fund IMF asked to increase revenues instead

_-----
So basically the whole issue is that the rich and middle class are spending more than they have running on loans and now we were at a stage when noone wants to lend us..when IMF comes forward to ask you to decrease your spending and that he would lend you start blaming IMF?

You are asking wrong guys, they are fools and can't see it and we all will suffer because of people like them exists in our country.

lol sharing lefafa anchor we all know keep it doing may be maryam nawaz will grant you some job taking samosa for nawaz in jail.

But that is not the case. China and Pakistan are strategic allies. You have each bailed out each other in numerous occasion. China has been very open that they will do anything to support their ally in all their official communique. This is one of the biggest economic downfall situations in history for Pakistan. Add the factor jt will be a big hit for China as well if CPEC fails. So it makes no sense whatsoever why they aren't stepping in. Am sure there is something else in works here which is not public.

I do agree to the last part , as the saying goes about teaching a man to fish versus buying him a fish.

The government has agreed to increase gas and electricity prices as part of the International Monetary Fund’s conditions for a bailout package.

Talks have entered the final phase and the government has already accepted some of the Fund’s terms, like increasing gas and electricity prices.

The IMF has asked the government to impose Rs700 billion more in taxes in the upcoming budget but the government is reportedly only ready to increase taxes by Rs500 billion.

Under these new terms, gas and electricity are going to get more expensive in the next three years. The government is expecting that by levying these new taxes, it will collect an additional Rs340 billion. This means there will be an extra Rs114 billion burden on consumers.

The IMF was given a briefing on the memorandum of economic and financial policy steps and was informed that tariffs can be changed every quarter and OGRA has been given a free hand to approach NEPRA and the gas companies to increase prices.

Subsidies for all users, except people using under 300 units and industries, are being done away with.

After the terms are set, the new state bank governor Reza Baqir will sign the agreement.

Sir what about the elephant in the room the costly wars we have been fighting the wars which were not our wars but were thrusted upon us the remnants of which we are still fighting and will fight for the foreseeable future sir we will always spend more than we produce we need to grow spine and use our natural resources (oil gas copper gold) and start mining and extracting them on war footings or else we will be begging for another IMF programme after this one. Regards

It's called 100 ganday te 100 danday khana. Should have done when PTI took charge of the government.

But imran khan needed chhitrol from establishment after 8 months of stubbornness and finally learned that it was easy to make tall claims of bringing "economic revolution" in 90s days during election rallies but very hard to achieve economic success after coming into power and facing the harsh economic realities of pakistan.

Where were things better? I visited my city Gujranwala in 2009 and all roads and sewerage systems were broken, not a single penny was spent on our city during musharraf regime, no wonder they didn't pile up much debt during mushi time because they didn't spend much money in the capital intensive development and infrastructure projects at all. The only place which was showered with money during mushi time was his native city karachi which got package after package whereas the infrastructure in the rest of the county was left to rot. Now when I go to my city Gujranwala, i see very good roads and sewerage system according to our pakistani standard, I saw the same kind of improvements in the neighboring cities of Sialkot. So yes debt was piled during last 10 years but most of that money was indeed spent on building the capital intensive infrastructure projects in most of the cities.
