Pakistan Steel Mills Likely to be Handed Over to Army

I would have preferred a civilian organisation doing it.

Hand over nab to the army if there is some political instability.

I am skeptical about this.
Well in an ideal world, that should have been the case, but the danger of "muk muka," and considering the billions at stake, only the finest will do.

Unless we see something big. Its always a muk muka.

The law will always fall for the clerical error.
The spirit of the law doesn't

We are at crossroads

source of news? what the f#ck has intelligence agency got to do with steele?
I remember in late 90's major level officers fixed WAPDA.
They probably knew nothing about the operations at start but they started with counting the people on duty!
I know many WAPDA engineers who had to resign because they were working abroad, from decades and I knew many who came back after spending decades abroad!
This must be on record and such stats. must be made available to public, so they are better equipped to decide among democracy and generals!

Well there is a lot at stake here, so I sincerely hope, that something positive comes out of this.

Political appointees, and nincompoops need to be shown the door, and PSM turned around into a profitable, state of the art steel mill.

Definitely.

I can understand since we are in arms sales now.

But the most critical would have been Pakistan international airlines.

Maybe it's just my personal preference. Call it prejudice. I am a planes over trains person any day of the week.

It says in the article that the affairs of the steel mill will be handed over to them. Usually, in general, the army is a lot more competent in this regard.
It was in era of Retired General Qayum...though this time they are interested to take charge but bone of contention is again one of the three

Some critical industries, that are rotting away in civilian hands. need to be put in shape and brought back to life.

The first thing a financial lender / donor, will look at is the mgmt. Now lets say if PA can come up with $3bn in low interest loans / equity participation, to turn around PR, PSM and PIA, who would the lenders/ donors trust more, a civilian govt, or PA?

We won't be taking money from anyone.

Otherwise I will need more convincing

No, something tells me, that there is more, than what meets the eye. You can't turn around rotten to the core industries, without new capital, that is a given. And no lender will lend to you, based on the current mgmt / ownership.

.
Are we inching towards a technocrat GOVT? Personally I will consider it a better option then any elected GOVT formed by current politicians regardless of what party the belong to.

Unions will go shizz crazy if they are not efficient and transparent.

It used to be the pride of Sindh. This steel mill.

army should not be given total control as this will again result in corruption but authority to appoint qualified honest people at various posts of steel mill without political influence
