Pakistan should replace UAE with England: Zaheer

ISLAMABAD: Asian Bradman Zaheer Abbas on Monday advised the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that England must be used as a neutral venue for Pakistan to host their home series.

Talking to media at the inauguration ceremony of the Women Cricket Academy at Government Viqar un Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi, Zaheer said we have seen the national team's play in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

"The team's performance is not improving playing in the UAE especially of our bowlers," he said.

He suggested the PCB that instead of hosting our matches in the UAE we can go for England as a neutral venue. "We have got a lot of Pakistani crowd in England and playing in England would result in better performance of the team," he said.

He also urged PCB to take inputs from local former cricketers in order to bring improvement in the game of cricket.

Responding to a question regarding the PCB to host a round table conference next month, Zaheer said if the inputs given by the cricketers in the round table conference are implemented then cricket will surely improve.

Returning to the inauguration ceremony of the Women Cricket Academy, Zaheer said he was very happy to see the sports spirit in the Viqar un Nisa College. He also praised the Sport Board Punjab for supporting the youth especially women in the field of sports.

"Hopefully we will soon be seeing players making it from Viqar un Nisa College to the national women's team," he said.

Actually this will be a smart move. A series in UK every year will be a good learning curve for our fragile batting line up. Bowlers also will have an ample time to develop quality swing bowling in an year or two.

This is a good Idea but we should change the venue like England and South Africa it will deliver good results in international cricket. We can see those players are good enough who can deliver in seeming and bouncing conditions.

What part of playing on dead pitches versus grassy pitches of England you people dont understand. Pitches in BD is no different than UAE. Besides BD has a hostile government. Why in the hell would we play there irrespective of the support we get from BD fans.

Instead, go for Imran Khan Plan.

Make three teams and all these 3 teams for all 3 formats Test, One Day and T20. All these 3 teams should have one captain for all 3 formats means the same captain for every format.
Make pitches of some cricket stadiums fast and other should remain neutral or slow.

After Pakistan Super League, host a Pakistan domestic super league for local players in local grounds and the best team from these 3 teams should go ahead.

These 3 formats will have current players and also some new players from PSL.

Remove sethi and shahrayar and have cricketers in Cricket Board.

Cricket Board should have no "political interference". Cricket Board should be declared autonomous.
