Already the navy has already ordered info about the F35.

Would it not be possible to buy 1 or 2 squadrons of F-35s till we can get J-XX, assuming Americans want to sell it to us? We don't need crazy amount of F-35s for a counter to PAK FA while the J-XX is still in development. Kind of like what PAF is doing with F-16 B52s. As far as funding is concerned, the economy is likely to pick up in the coming years, so we can perhaps buy them in 2015. It's not as far-fetched as some think.

Hi All,

Just wanted to chime in here on the thought of replacing F16s with F35s or F22s.

1. F22s will not be sold to anyone. It's a US only aircraft. Don't even think about it because it's been said more than once that it will never be sold outside the USA.
2. The F35s were sold to Israel as well but I don't understand why. I will leave my faith out of this because I will probably be chastised and hated for it (I don't hate anyone!) but I have an idea of why they are getting them. There are many other countries in line for them as well.

Selling the F22 or F35 to anyone other than the UK, Canada or Australia makes no sense. They are VERY strong US allies and I can see why they would want the F35.

The US (well, us!) has many, MANY A4s, F4s, F15s, F16s and F18s wrapped in protective coatings and could easily be sold (minus US only electronic technology) to any country interested in buying them. The technology is out of date but 3 of 5 listed are GEN4 era planes -- and could be obtained for much, much, much less than GEN5 planes!

Its highly unlikely Pakistan will go for F-35 in the near future even if it was given the option to... mainly because of the sanctions that haunt PAF to this day.. However,
PAF will surely be procuring one of the 5th Gen fighters that China is working on..

Don't worry guys, in next five years Chinese J20 will be in production line. As far as F35, no doubt Pakistan has chance to get this fighter being a non NATO member on special subsidized pricing. Historically US always keep a balance in the region by providing state of the art arms to Pakistan. So, don't worry beside F35 Pakistan has many other option to procure modern fighters.

Yahya bahi I love your ambition , F35 is wonderful but I think the Chinese Stealth planes are more real and more attainable with out even having a need to eat grass (a.k.a salad)

I think the F35 programs is very much delayed and there is a long waiting line for its supply we won't get any planes at least till 2025 and that my friend is 15 years too late

We can possibly gain J10B and focus on geting may be 10 strategic assets from China , we don't need these planes in number

But I do admit that yes 5th generation research is worthy to invest in because it makes us a undeniable regional power -

I would love to replace F-16s with F-22s but the real questions is do we have an option of F-35s which I don't think so. Its better and more realistic to think about JXXs.
