Pakistan should replace F-16 with F-35 ?

well F 16 is a legend of all fighter jets ever produced whenever any country wanted to produce the fighter jet they always kept their the legendary perfomances of F 16 even USAF said that F 16 can go till 2020 In USAF so no way USA is replacing them even if F 35 come out

Strong PAF is in US intrest that was the only reason F16 given to Pakistan.

We need to select fifth gen fighter to fullfill the needs of next 50 years.I think F35 is the best choice .

Well Lets see, One F-35 costs around 190 Million as Per Wiki, So If You have to Buy 60 of these jets to replace the F-16 then You will have to spend 190 X 60= 11400 Million US $ Which Account to approx 11.4 B $, With a Defense Budget of 4 B US $, You will have to make it a 3 year Long process to buy it provided Your security personnels are not paid and committed to this alone... And That Too The delivery would start in the mid 2030 as all the Other participants in the JSF venture would have Inducted into there squadrons.... Not a Feasible Solution for pakistan

If Pakistan increase its defence budget @20% yearly, after 10 years defence budget will be 10 US Billion yearly ,Hence buying 60 , F35 at cost of 10 US Billion$ is not big deal

I like your positive attitude , but see the problem is when we increase our budget , the politicians also increase their expenses and tax choori.

Money is never a problem in Pakistan its our lavish lifestyles of the rich

We are -ve 70 Billion in debt which was mere 5-10 billion in Musharif's time of economic reform

We have to eat grass to buy such a plane but

a) No one is willing to sell this plane
b) Our public wants to FILL the biryani plate to MAX like in marrige halls

Right now our priority are

a) Build a Damn - 5 billion dollars/ Finish gas projects with Iran and china (Economic)
b) Get high altitude SAM 1 billion investment (Defensive need)
c) Finish production of 100 JF17 thunders (Replace old planes defence)
d) Aquire Frigates and destroyers for Navy (Upgrade coast guard fleet to navy status)
e) Finish attaining OHP frigates (Upgrade coast guard fleet to navy status)
f) Attain another 100 helicopters for Army's operations (Civilian and Military use)
g) Finalize acceptance of FC20 36 planes thanks to Musharif's decisions we have this bird
otherwise we would have been dreaming of F16 which we have not recieved still

If I think Mr Musharif comes to power we might broker some good deals

All the strategic gains we had were in Musharif's time , and we have not had a break thru in Zardari's time unfortunately

Increasing 20% Defense Budget with a 0-3% growing Economy will bring disasters.... But Its Your country, Who am I to Question... Good Luck with It

the truth is our defence forces are weakend after indian delas which you just see as they are buying toys and we hardly bought any bullet whatever we have bought are rubbish

Do you konw dilvery time ? it will be minimum five years , 2 Billion per year cost for strong Air Defence for 50 years is not bad decision .

Thats why we have J-XX as an option!!!

In next 50 years dogfight is all about finding the enemy before he finds you - and that is reflected in the F35 design priorities.

US need money for servival because they are sinking with debt .US Defence inductry is the only industry which is making profit .

What is the rationale for the F35 for Pakistan? Lets that it could get F35, why, what rationale, what missions would it be for? What F35 can do that Pakistan needs and that F16 or J10 cannot do?

F35 have 400% better capabilities than F16 or any other current 4th generation fighter , can target them without any dogfight.

Hypothaticaly, a high altitude nuclear blast can cause and EMP burst that can fry all electronic circuts within a certain radius

Israel knows what Ghouris and Shaheens can do. I am sure they are wise enough to calculate now this is not 80s when Isreal was beyond reach.
Lets spend one fourth of your f-35 purchase expense on human resource, rest assure we will be making our own f-35 after 20 years
