After the Chinese investment prospects, the ministers should learn to control their words under pressure.

Teesta water treaty in future

Says home minister

Our Correspondent, New Delhi

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal says he believes the Teesta river water-sharing treaty with India will be a reality in future but maintained that relations between the two countries do not depend on this single treaty.

"Any treaty is done on the basis of a mutual interest of both the countries. A treaty cannot be signed by neglecting the interest of a country which is party to it. We feel that Teesta treaty will happen in future. The way the bilateral relations are moving forward, we are hopeful that Teesta treaty will happen sooner or later," he has told PTI in Kolkata during his recent visit to the city.

"It is true that Bangladesh is facing some problems. Water is essential for both the countries," he says.

However, Kamal makes it clear that the future of the India-Bangladesh relations doesn't depend on the Teesta treaty. "The bilateral relationship won't depend on this treaty."

He says the opposition and fundamentalist forces in Bangladesh are using Teesta issue to flare up anti-India sentiments in Bangladesh.

Replying to a query, the home minister says Pakistan needs to be isolated for "harbouring terrorists and supporting terror acts".

"Pakistan has always harboured and supported terrorists. We feel those who support terrorism should be discouraged and isolated. We should do everything to discourage and condemn such attacks. Such kind of terror attacks should not be carried out against any country," Kamal says.

On terror attacks both in India and Bangladesh having roots in Pakistan, he says, "Both India and Bangladesh have the same stand on the issue of terrorism. We have noticed in recent past, how Pakistan's involvement in various terror attacks has come out into the open. This has to stop."

I have mentioned this quite clearly before but seems as people dont understand how it works.

Any comment regarding a foreign policy/country which comes from anyone other then Hasina is just for wannabe badassery. This has happened before. The half-educated ministers talk but that translates into no action. Its just politics where BAL has appointed such MPs who talk to media, working as a charm to please their best friends in Delhi. Hasina, on the other hand, is playing her own game to finely balance India and China. This is quite simple but looks like its goes way over the 'intellectuals' on PDF.

INCLUDING HASINA'S OWN COMMENTS, THE NON ELECTED OPPRESSIVE AND OLIGARCHIC REGIME. KILLING THOUSANDS OF INNOCENTS WHO ALL SPEAK OUT THE TRUTH, SHUTTING DOWN ALL ELECTRONIC + PRINT MEDIA, REVERSING THE SACRED CONSTITUTION, AS PER HER WHIMS, HIGHLY POLITICISING THE ADMINISTRATION,JUDICIARY, LAW ENFORCING AGENCIES + INTEL AGENCIES, ETC,ETC

BD should really stop whining about Pakistan every month...Let us move on BD..it is almost 50 year..Time to move on and let us focus on the econmics...If terrorism is finding a place among BD people, there is something wrong in your society which needs to be looked into....this is same issue with India too...We always blame someone or the other but look our own internal shortcomings...
This is actually your media, which ask question towards visiting Bangladeshi ministers about 'Pakistan+terrorism' and publish those statement enthusiastically.BD minister doesn't talk much within BD about Pakistan,it is only during the visit in India when your cheap media expect eagerly such type of statement and visiting minister grant their wishes.

We probably won't know for sure within our lifetimes, but in my humble opinion Seymour Hersh's version of events is much more realistic - that Pakistani agents found Bin Laden and were holding him in the compound, and made a deal with the Americans to hand him over and announce later that he had been killed in a drone strike, but since Obama really wanted to get re-elected he announced it prematurely and made it look like it was only the US who found him without Pakistan's help.

I agree that we might never know for sure what transpired before the raid. Seymour Hersh's version is one of the versions out there. It seems to be one of the more extreme versions, however.

I largely believe the American government's version, with a few exceptions. Such as their (and Pakistan's) claim that the raid was conducted without the knowledge of the Pakistani government. It's odd that they could fly any helicopter so far into Pakistani territory without Pakistani security forces noticing. Not to mention that the police came to the scene only after the Americans had left.

I don't know if a false drone strike story would have worked. Given that he was inside a compound in Abbottabad, people in Al-Qaeda, among others, undoubtedly knew this. The real story would surely come out soon after he was killed. I don't think the upcoming election had anything to do with it, considering that it was over a year away. Far more important to Obama was not screwing the operation up.

Hersh is quite credible, and his explanation makes sense, but it doesn't explain the crashed helicopter or the whole Shakil Afridi affair.

Indeed, it doesn't.

The man is a bit unstable, in my opinion. He was interviewed by Slate magazine about the story, and he seems far from professional to me:

What was Osama Bin Laden doing in Pakistan? Who gave him shelter there? Uzbekistan?

Who funded Taliban in Afghanistan? Sweden?

There is reason behind everything
United states funded taliban... Illiterate freak..:o::o: save your keyboard by logging out..

.
Pakistan supported Taliban militants because it was pro-Pakistan. ISI and CIA gave weapons and channeled funds from Saudi Arabia to Taliban insurgents in the 90s.

Don't troll

bangladesh wants to support a country against terrorism who itself supports terrorists in Pakistan.
by the way bangladesh, india and afghanistan had isolated pakistan since last many decades. the rest of the world is exception. the super power triangle is more strong than the rest of the world.

How does it matter what we think or not? Bangladesh is miles away from Pakistan and not harming it in any way. Focus on own neighbourhood what they think of you

If it doesn't matter what BD thinks or not then tell ur home minister to shut up and as u said "focus on ur own neighborhood"...

Also using ur own logic..."How does it matter what [Pakistan/Pakistanies] think [of ur home minister's statements] or not? Pakistan is miles away from Bangladesh and not harming it in any way. Focus on own neighborhood what they think of you."
...so why not take ur own advice and not comment on this thread bcuz it shouldn't matter to u what we think :azn:

What was Osama Bin Laden doing in Pakistan? Who gave him shelter there? Uzbekistan?

Correction...it was the US that funded them. Pakistan played a part in their creation but wasn't rich enough to fund them. Is ur Home Minister feeling brave enough to issue a similar statement against US or would he gallantly shy away from such remarks. My bet is on the latter ;)

Home Minister is anti-Pakistan because he is Awami League member and many of his acquaintances were killed in 71. Got ur explanation?

.
I searched all Bangladesh news sites. Found no such report of any minister releasing such statements. I think this is PAKISTAN MEDIA CONSPIRACY to IRRITATE and PROVOKE BANGLADESH. OP hitchiker is part of pak-india media nexus trying to irritate us. Don't troll
LOL at your thinking....Pak-India media nexus ?This was not even reported in Pak Media.Although i am happy to do this job provided they offer some good money:p::pakistan:

No, it means his personnel grudge will dominate the country foreign policy...Strange logic

Even the US president didn't accuse us of this. Egg on your face.

"But it’s important to note that our counterterrorism cooperation with Pakistan helped lead us to bin Laden and the compound where he was hiding....And going forward, it is essential that Pakistan continue to join us in the fight against al Qaeda and its affiliates."
