I suspect the procurement of the surface ships is being done on a layaway basis. Basically, they'll make orders based on the cash they have on hand to spend, and the piecemeal ordering of the Type 054A - esp. the standard design of the PLAN and not CSOC's proposals - is a clear indication of that. I think as a plan they intend to have 3 Type 054As, but they'll make later orders when the funds are available. The Navy needs to have a commander who is decisive, and thinks outside the square. For too long the navy had CNS-s with "bureaucratic mindsets". The navy needs a real leader. Now, why the hell would they NOT order 4 x 054? What are they waiting for? Are they waiting for some party at the officers mess next year?
Get your priorities right for F* sake; the navy is in DIRE need of new surface ships. These new ships were needed "yesterday", but they are still mucking around as if it is a joke.
The Swift Corvettes are all-welded steel hull and superstructure designs - not that complex. I don't see a scenario where each ship would cost more than $75 m. If the U.S. is unwilling to sell it then an alternative design can easily be had from Turkey or the Netherlands.but further progress depends on U.S. congressional approval.
which would happen if its pakistani money but if has FMF than it would be intersting
If i may ask how much does a type 054A off the shelf unit cost and what is the cost of mainainance for one year?I suspect the procurement of the surface ships is being done on a layaway basis. Based on China's offer to Thailand, the cost of each Type 054A is $333 m U.S. The maintenance and operating costs were not disclosed. If i may ask how much does a type 054A off the shelf unit cost and what is the cost of mainainance for one year?
Why cant they ask a credit line from China for lets say an order of 6-8 frigates?, that would make the bill around around 2-3 bill, we can come up with atleast 800 mil to assure the creditors.Based on China's offer to Thailand, the cost of each Type 054A is $333 m U.S. The maintenance and operating costs were not disclosed.
But clearly defined how should we will develop basic technology for indigenous frigate project like engine, naval radars and other and ecm, eccm,ew and other critical tech for that project, isn't wise mr @Hassan Guy to move step by step we currently have a capability to build hull of a ship, than we will move to develop engine for ship with the help of China and than naval radars, than rest of the stuff think about Mr @Hassan Guyor....they could develop a warship locally...
Radars and sensor suites and launchers even are not a problem anymore, those are things we can develop fairly easy with designated funds and Chinese help, engine is something that would need to be imported for the next 2 decades or so.But clearly defined how should we will develop basic technology for indigenous frigate project like engine, naval radars and other and ecm, eccm,ew and other critical tech for that project, isn't wise mr @Hassan Guy to move step by step we currently have a capability to build hull of a ship, than we will move to develop engine for ship with the help of China and than naval radars, than rest of the stuff think about Mr @Hassan Guy
Buying destroyers will eat the bugt of navy, lets assume we will get type-52B/C there price is over 1 billion $ 1 will useless for PN, imagine the costs of 3 to 4 of type-52B/Cwhy not a destroyer?
What radar and other sensors we are developing right now can give me prove and don't give me PDF thread link that windjammer posted earlier this year its fairly a crude syetem and i am talking about naval radars , they are more complex/different than there land/ air counterpartsRadars and sensor suites and launchers even are not a problem anymore, those are things we can develop fairly easy with designated funds and Chinese help, engine is something that would need to be imported for the next 2 decades or so.
I said we can develop with chinese assistance, where did i say we are developing them and concerning launchers, developments are already underway, engines i agree are beyond us for now...Buying destroyers will eat the bugt of navy, lets assume we will get type-52B/C there price is over 1 billion $ 1 will useless for PN, imagine the costs of 3 to 4 of type-52B/C

Yes you are right with the help of China, excluding engine every thing will be possibleI said we can develop with chinese assistance, where did i say we are developing them and concerning launchers, developments are already underway, engines i agree are beyond us for now...
