What's new

Pakistan set to massively reduce petrol prices.

Why not keep the oil price like before and use the profit to improve public transportation system ?

It has a massive impact on cost of living in Pakistan. Inflation is pretty high, people are feeling the squeeze so by passing on the savings it helps reduce the cost of living - assuming of course that businesses pass on that saving instead of adding it to their profit margins.

Good news for the consumers. I am glad the government is passing on the lower oil prices to the consumers and not fleecing people.

State of Pakistan economy managers minds, as soon as we got loaned oil on deferred payments government decided to reduce the prices. Are they not thinking few years down the line this loan will add another burden around Pakistan ever increasing debt. Current crop of government politicians will be gone and new government will be shinning the begging bowl again. Actually petrol prices around the world have gone up due to the Covid and if government is not charging the market price. We are only increasing the debt as sooner or latter we have to pay the deferred payments instalments back.

Fuel prices in the international market have fell by almost 17% while the government is reducing it by only 6% as bheek for this poor people of Pakistan. What a joke. Too little too late I’d say

This is the same everywhere and there is a reason for it.

1. Fuel is bought and stored, so the price you pay for fuel is linked to the price it was bought at.
2. Sometimes govts like to give just a lollypop.
3. As someone stated before me - they cut duty to 0% recently, so maybe they'll try to earn some revenue back before passing on the savings.

. .
Bad move. Keep it where it is to make up for budgeted PL and also to see if the international prices remain the same.

who said that massively reduction in petrol prices ? another fake news

more likely a reduction of Rs 4-5 or in best case scenerio, Rs 7-8. That's about it.

Government had reduced taxes on fuel to zero. Now that government can collect some tax back , why should not they. ? As per your logic government is not supposed to go to IMF and not supposed to collect taxes than how the hell they going to run the country ?
Bhai kisko logic samjha Rahay ho. If this majority of 230M has common sense and logical thinking, why would the country be in such a condition. They expect govt to deliver manosalwa while they sit home.

Only if producers, wholesalers and retailers pass on to the savings. If they are in a cartel they will just agree to put the savings back into thier profits.

The majority you speak of is who elected this government. Not to mention that the majority also includes your pm ministers bureaucrats and judges. So that way I completely concur with your POV.

If you can afford to cut back then cut back a bit. Otherwise get PL back to 30 rupees and normal sales tax of 17 percent. The public will never appreciate the drop in price but will make you pay (as they should) for running large stupid budget deficits.

How is this conducive to any form of stability? The monthly expenditure cannot possibly be this violent.

All these ups and downs are favouring the corrupt business practices not advocating for good governance.
