Majority of Indians dont hate the religion of Islam..In fact we all (Including majority of Indian Muslims/Hindus/Christians etc..) respect it to an extent that it should be personal affair between you and your God...the same is true for Hindus as well....Tomorrow if any idiot Hindu comes up to me and preached to me that have you done your Thursday fast or your Friday fast or have you gone to the temple recently or when was the last time you have done any pooja, I would just look at him and tell him to F#%k off..that's between me and my god/belief..So in fact what I am trying to say is that...we hate any form of extreme religion that is forced on us...be it Hinduism, Christianity, Islam...etc....I am only speaking for the Majority of Indians here not the minority....Yes I would hate it if I was scared to say something against my religion(Hinduism) and worry if I was going to be killed for it...there lies the problem.
