ISLAMABAD (Reuters) – Pakistan is not looking at a military option over Kashmir, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Thursday, after neighbouring India revoked its decades-old special constitutional status for the disputed region this week.

However, Pakistan reserves the right to respond to any Indian aggression, Qureshi told a news conference in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad.

“We’re not looking at military option,” Qureshi said, adding, “Don’t we reserve a right to respond in case of any aggression?”

Regional leaders have warned of a backlash against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision this week on Jammu and Kashmir, which also split the state into two federal territories to allow the government greater control.

My first reflex is that we shouldn't say we aren't looking at military options categorically. We should keep things somewhat ambiguous to keep the pressure on.

However, I also realise that I'm not well informed about the inner plannings and intelligence work going on behind the scenes. I'm aware that much of the plans we make wouldn't be known until after they been executed.

Mature Statement by the Honorable FM Qureshi.

Right thing to do as a responsible Nation.

In india proper isn't in the news article or the video. Did I miss something - or do you mean 'in India proper' is implied?

That was already evident, but it is good to be stated so clearly. @Mangus Ortus Novem any comments here? Whatever happened to holding the world hostage?
