Pray tell, What did we get so far with our tough stance? We have been insisting on 1948 UN resolution and plebscite for the last 58 years but to what avail?? India just makes two finger sign at us and dares us to what whatever we can; and we lost half the country in the bargain. That is what our tough stance has gotten us!
It hurts me very deeply at the the injustice of it all. India is becoming more powerful by the day, only time when perhaps we could have had a fight to the finish with a remote chance of success was in 1965; but our leaders lacked the guts.
Do you or Mr Irfan Siddiqui see a realistic chance of Pakistan taking Kashmir by force of arms or does any honourable member of this forum think that India is going to gift us Kashmir on a platter??. I am not a particular fan of Musharraf but I give him credit to at least think beyond the conventional solutions. Probably it will come to nothing as usual due to India's intransigence, but you can't blame Mushy for trying his best to find someway out.
As for Mr Siddiqui; India has hundrerds of billions in FE reserves because of its excellence in IT field which was achieved because South India spent a lot of time and effort on developing human resource. During 80's, when India was focussing on computer technology and IT, we had Zia and his bigots who were busy promoting sectarian outfits and interfering in Afghanistan's internal politics.
Mr Siddqui has not suggested what would have happened if we had not sided with the US??. Mr Siddqiui is trying to imply that Pakistan also would have had hundreds of billions if we had not made a U-turn!
A typical spin on the facts that most of right wing anti Musharraf journalists such as Mr Siddiqqui make a living off. My pity on such devious journalists and sympathy for the poor readers who have to swallow such hagwash day after day.
