ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Monday reaffirmed commitment to further strengthen their strategic relationship.

The commitment was renewed during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and his Saudi counterpart Adel al-Jubeir.

Matters of mutual interest, bilateral ties, cooperation, regional situation and other issues were discussed in the meeting, said a spokesperson of the Foreign Office.

Earlier on August 18, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, who was in Saudi Arabia on an official visit, had met the Kingdom’s Deputy Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman.

During the meeting, they had discussed bilateral relations, matters of mutual interest, and military cooperation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing.

Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lt General Faiz Hameed was also present during the meeting.

Shortly after the meeting, the Saudi deputy defence minister had tweeted: “ Met today with my brother, H.E. General Qamar Bajwa, Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff. We discussed bilateral relations, military cooperation, and our common vision for preserving regional security.”

Back door diplomacy on Kashmir, most likely. The Americans and GCC are trying to prevent a 2.5 front war nightmare for Modi. There is little they can offer us at this point. Kashmir can only be resolved to through conventional military actions. OIC, USA, UNSC need not concern themselves. Kashmir/Ladakh is a local issue between India, Pakistan and China (India's own stated diplomatic stance for decades).

Anyway, it's too late for these minions of Captain Lawrence, a homosexual Jewish folk, of the British Intelligence...

It's not up to the maggots from the mortals, but it's HIS WILL and PLAN that get materialized...

And, HIS Rahmet wins over HIS Azab as far as the Muslims are concerned. And, the 200 years of Azab Insha'Allah is coming to an end...

Saudis probably trying to sell their Israeli chooran to Pakistani leadership.

I wouldn't put too much faith in such telephonic conversations. They just maintain the diplomatic niceties for public consumption.
Of course saudis and our corrupt leaders in the past had their back doors open for all sorts of corruptions. :)

pakistan plz sir more porridge, saudi, of course you poor retchet soul increase your loyalty.

There are a lot of weapons USA and its friends can give Modi to prevent your so-called 2.5 front war
countries that are going around asking for debt relief cannot start wars

What are you smoking? Kashmir will be resolved through conventional means, with nuclear weapons not in the equation? India has withdrawn its pledge of NFU. If India has to fight a 2.5 front war, nuclear weapons are on the table. Are you willing to trade Islamabad for Srinagar?

Pakistan Army doesn’t think so, otherwise it would have attacked by now. And don’t expect China to help, they are not going to going to die for Pakistan.

Any thing for Kashmir. Financial issues can be figured out later. India itself has long stated that Kashmir is a local issue between the involved parties and international actors need not get involved. France even vetoed a UN resolution on Kashmir last year stating as much. What's changed all of a sudden??

Maintaining the Indian occupation of Kashmir has no relevance to USA national security. USA has historically backed self determination in Kashmir. India has been a big arms importer for years....there is nothing they can buy now that wasn't already offered.

All the discussions between Saudis and Pakistanis have little to do with Kashmir
What did the Saudis do for Pakistan when Pakistan was a Saudi ally and India was in the Soviet camp ?
Those days the Indian economy was 10% of its current size. I have a hard time believing this is about meaningless OIC resolutions

Firstly, KSA has economically helped Pak though the last many decades, indeed at times their financial support has been critical for Pak's economic survival at many past occasions. One example is post Pak's nuclear test so you can easily get factual answers to your question about what KSA has done for Pak in the past by doing a bit of research. They have also stood with Pak in many foreign affair decisions like the support for Afg mujaheddin and later the Taliban.

Secondly, IMO the relationship between KSA and Pak is like that of two close family members. At times they will disagree on certain things but at the end of the day they will not abandon each other nor break off their relationship with each other. As an example during the first Gulf war then Pak COAS Aslam Beg supported Iraq's invasion of Kuwait (so did some Pak politicians) but it was not enough for the 2 countries to end their relationship. Yemen is another example.

Thirdly, dont let some of the PDF Pak posters apparent hatred for KSA mislead you. Overall people in Pak lean heavily towards supporting KSA and GOP will never break off its relationship with KSA.

Thanks for the detailed response. None of Saudi help for Pakistan relates to Kashmir. You make my point

Ah so what you were really saying was that KSA has never supported Pak over Kashmir. This is factually incorrect. Let me quote just one example and I am sure you can look up scores of examples from 60's on wards.

In April 1966 King Faisal during his visit to Pak said "KSA supports the right of people of J&K to self determination in accordance with the UN resolutions and expresses the hope that Tashkent declaration between India and Pakistan would lead to just and honorable solution to this dispute".
