Pakistan, Russia agree for bilateral cooperation

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Russia have agreed to further the positive trajectory of overall bilateral relations by exploring avenues for mutually beneficial cooperation.

The agreement was reached at the Pakistan-Russia Consultative Group’s 12th meeting on strategic stability here on Friday.

According to the Foreign Office (FO), the Pakistani side was led by United Nations (UN) Special Secretary and Economic Coordination Ambassador, Tasnim Aslam, while the Russian delegation was headed by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergey Ryabkov.

The two sides expressed a high degree of satisfaction over their close coordination, cooperation, and consultations at various international fora.

An in-depth exchange of views took place on regional and global developments in the context of arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation.

The talks were marked by a commonality of approach and convergence on a range of contemporary issues in the backdrop of a fast-evolving strategic landscape.

All countries have rights to establish relations with the countries they want.
But its important to realise that there are no free lunches with russia as there are with USA.

Russian economy is as smaller as tiny european nations, no deep pockets. Russian military though is a top class, but we are yet to see a meaningful weapon sale to pakistan that can threaten india. Wonder if its ever going to come.

Pakistan needs to expand on its relationship with Russia fast.

Nah, look at what happened to Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Afghanistan, etc, all destroyed and who were in the Russian camp. We need to be independent both economically and militarily, non-aligned and partners with China, Iran and Turkey.
