What's new

Pakistan rumored to be interested in additional RJAF F-16s

PAF must try to push for approval of OZGUR upgrade package from Turks.

It will massively boost our F-16 fleet's capabilities and we will have access to Turkish missiles which the Akinci drone also can be armed with.

. . .
Pakistan is cleared to buy any used f16 since IK left. I broke this news months ago.
We are in process of looking for around 2-3 squadrons...
The upgrade kits for b52 will be made available also.

Though f16 v kit was denied

So was anything other then dumb bombs and aim9p.
The amount of misinformation spread here is spectacular. Your biasness has taken away all skills of an analysis from you and truly blinded you.

Pakistan was always cleared to buy F-16s, new or used. The deal breaker was "CSF" (Coalition Support Funds), which gives concessional prices to buy USA equipment in a general sense. Pakistan refused to pay full price for F-16s and AH-1Zs so they stalled. Congress’ refused to release Foreign Military Financing (FMF) support in 2016 for Pakistan Air Force (PAF)’s F-16C/D purchase, and those 8 x F-16s couldn't join PAF.

It was reported that USA may release CSF to Pakistan during Imran Khan tenure.

So basically Imran Khan staying in power was good to get F-16s for PAF as USA started withholding funding around 2015/2016 but the hope of releasing funding started around 2019.

F16s were bought and maintained from Pakistan’s own funds.
Not the 18 new and around 14 used ones from USA.
I am not sure of 13 from Jordan.

Discounts! F16s are sold by Lockheed Martin, why would they offer discounts? And US tax payers wont allow their own money to be used without approval. I dont have the exact figures, but PAF package was inline with what market costs were. Now numbers may appear less, but that is because of PAF planning, negotiations and cost cutting measures - for example taking surplus parts, surplus f16s and upgrading them, getting upgrades done via Turkey etc.
@SQ8 can probably shed more light, but all F16 deals are at the end commercial deals and never been subsidized by US tax money.
Can you stop spreading misinformation.

There was an interview by AM Shahid Lateef (R), this was post 2019 I recall. He clearly mentioned that PAF knows the price from each nut and bolt to everything above in F-16 where as Americans are not prepared to negotiate on price. This was one of interviews regarding JF-17 project initiated by him.

i think ex-jordanian F-16s are not bvr capable.they're for air defence like F-7.can't fire bvr without upgrade.
I believe they were BVR (AMRAAM not Sparrow) capable and had been upgraded.

.
That was not rumour but official fact declared through Official Tender (NOTE: During that time on the forum I posted the Official Tender document and list of tail numbers with airframe life of F-16 on offer) by Jordanian Air Force, US decline to approve the transfer of those batch during the last days of Obama (as far as I remember)
The twist "seemed" (unsure) to be, that USA wanted PAF to buy from USA, where as Pakistan wanted the CSF rates from USA which USA wasn't willing to provide, so USA stepped in and interfered in the second F-16 purchase between Jordan and Pakistan.

Also, unsure, but there was second batch of 14 x F-16s to be provided by USN which used them as aggressors. USN didn't release those instead USA allowed Pakistan to buy 13 x F-16s from Jordan and not more.

Jordan has bought 8 F-16 Block 70 fighters recently. They should’ve upgraded their existing f16s ?
RJAF's F-16s are upgraded.

These were probably sold to PAF.

and the rest are upgraded and AMRAAM capable.

PAF is probably after the 17 x F-16s ADFs of PEACE FALCON II upgraded after 2004 for $87 million.

and if tomorrow the army just vanishes, imran is back in power, whats the plan? We have seen IKs economic policy and there was no way we were getting anywhere with that. The govt always has an inability to budget because they dont get enough revenue, 50% of the economy is informal and only 1% of the total population pay their taxes... I wonder how different the country would be if everyone did pay, because you can sit there and complain about muh govt is not investing in us or not helping us, but the govt can only do that if you allow them, pay your taxes, FOLLOW THE LAWS etc, start looking in the mirror first.

Anyway, this is about f-16s, not poor takes from our paindu defence expaarts, take your baseless political rambling to the correct thread
Only Indians or their stooges would believe Pakistani army would just disappear. Pakistan army is still strong and even if IK comes to power it will stay strong. If you think Pakistan army is going to entrust the security and integrity of Pakistan to corrupt politicians then you are more foolish than you read to be. Pakistan's road map is clear and strategy well formulated , we will get there eventually even though the road may be a little bumpy at times.

Personally, I would not mind if there is another military coup in Pakistan.

At least the top brass in Pakistan would do what is in Pakistan's national interests.

What misinformation is in my post? I dont think you replied to the correct post. My point was that PAF deal in 2000s were from own funds.

. . . . .
What happened to that JF-17 plane we were making. No news on that anywhere. Did that project stall or something?
