Pakistan risks losing trust of Gulf nations

We'll skip this one.

Empty talk, in the time of need that talk will evaporates. GCC asked for your political support instead you chosen to be "neutral", how's that a support?

............

Again, whatever it means that whole phrase was not used in the Tweets.

The GCC requested only a symbolic military support and political support, and you didn't give any.

Aside from your limited help to Jordan in the 60s and your participation alongside the UN coalition during the Gulf War i don't recall any other form of help you gave that is backed with good evidence of that help.

Seems like Pakistanis on this site have an extremely short memory, GCC and mainly Saudi Arabia supported you throughout all your hard times, politically and economically, mainly after you got sanctioned in the 90s after you tested your nuclear weapons, you wouldn't have survived without the Saudi aid, as some Pakistanis here have mentioned your soldiers salaries were being paid by the Saudi government, and without the enormous political support at the UN the US would have probably invaded your nation under the excuse of WMDs which unlike Iraq you actually had.

Mind the language please!

Political support is provided, 'neutrality' is strictly in military terms, until it gets out of hand & threatens Saudi territory.

Come down for who? For us? Who are we and what are we for whom you want them to come down.

Sir ji If we are no body than they shouldn't be insisting on our involvement. Point being Arabs take us for granted. I think Pakistan's stance will make them think for once what has changed that even a country like Pakistan (for them Haza Maskeens) have turned their request down. Some introspection is definitely needed on their part.

you wouldn't have survived without the Saudi aid,

You really are ignorant. Never underestimate our resolve to survive. Saudis have helped but so have we. As for mere empty talks when push come to shove, our army was deployed. When siege of Khana Khaba happened, our special forces intervened. We have done far more for arabs then they have reciprocated but than i dont need to explain this to you. Besides you cannot threat somebody to fight your battles. Its our decision and we have made one if Saudi integrity is threaten we will respond. Believe it or dont, see if we care.

Mr Mohammad Abdul Wahid Khan, Press Counsellor, Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai, writes to Gulf News

A matter of concern

I wish to draw your attention to a matter of serious concern to Pakistan, and the Pakistani community living in the UAE. The issue pertains to Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif’s policy statement on Yemen of April 13, 2015, and the manner it was covered and reflected in your publication. The Prime Minister, in his statement, had expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the GCC and underscored Pakistan’s commitment to strategic ties with the region. The statement is unequivocal and clear in its content and intent.

The same was reported through WAM by various newspapers, including Khaleej Times, Al Khaleej, Al Ittehad, Al Bayan and others. It was captioned as ‘Pakistan doesn’t abandon friends, strategic partners’ in Khaleej Times, and ‘Pakistan declares its solidarity with Gulf countries and intensifies contacts with Saudi Arabia’ in Arab dailies. In sharp contrast to the objective reporting by the bulk of UAE news media, your newspaper took it upon itself to continue to cast aspersions on Pakistan’s role in the region, declaring on the front page, that ‘Pakistan failed to take the right call, and that it must decide if its relations with the Gulf States are more valuable and sustainable than historic and strategic ties with the Gulf.’

While we appreciate freedom of expression, and exercise and encourage it within our own country, we take strong exception to commentary which in our view, reflects mala fide propaganda, aimed at pursuing specific agendas and vitiating the atmosphere.

Your biased reporting has hurt the sentiments and sensitivities of the 1.3 million hard working Pakistanis who remain in the UAE. As a newspaper of repute, we urge you to take corrective measures in the context of your policy while reporting on Pakistan.
