No matter how big India is or her economy, she cannot buy from everyone all the time just to keep Pakistan out. For example now that Rafale is finally chosen for Indian MRCA what do you think will happen if Pakistan starts looking for Eurofighter? Will the EU ignore Pakistan at the behest of India who has already gone with the French option? No they will not its simple Business. You dont buy something they will sell it to your competitor.
Now the question is about affording big ticket items and there is where we lack but hopefully things will get better in this regard too. If Pakistan wants to buy something we will fund it one way or the other. For 5th generation we are already betting on Chinese option and getting them wont be a problem from China and will not hurt the economy either.
The gloomy picture associated in the article is far fetched.
Only for you $30-40 billion is a pittance.
For a country with ~200 million people?
Where 71.5B/4,584,313B goes to education.
30B Water management
20.88 Health

I will answer once you return from your ban. Till than enjoy oh wise onelist the big ticket items Pakistani military has purchased from countries other than China and USA in the past 25 years
What makes you think the Eurofighter is available for the PAF ?
Agreed....and It would be a nightmare and outright foolish for India to buy things just to deny Pakistan...Pakistan real issue is the cash and once you have the cash lot of doors will open...Having said that given India's appetite and some $250 Billion modernization plan complemented with zilch homegrown options India would be knocking on almost all the doors...Probably this is what article was trying to say though i agree it did a poor job....No matter how big India is or her economy, she cannot buy from everyone all the time just to keep Pakistan out.
