PAF acquires another Saab-2000 AEW&C from Sweden

ISLAMABAD: The second Saab-2000 AEW&C (Airborne Early Warning and Control System) aircraft, purchased by Pakistan, finally arrived in the country on Saturday.

The first such aircraft of the originally four contracted by Pakistan was acquired in December last year, while the second aircraft landed safely at an Operational Base of the PAF.

PAF sources have informed that this new entry would soon be inducted formally in PAF squadron, while remaining two would also be handed over to Pakistan soon.

I think you're being too optimistic. The range of Erieye may be 450 km but that doesn't mean it will detect every aircraft at that range. 450 km is the maximum instrumentation range, while the detection range for a 5m2 rcs plane is 350km. For every aircraft there is a different range of detection. Smaller aircraft like LCA and Mirage 2000 will only be detected at 225-300 km something and the PakFa kind of planes won't be detected till the plane gets in 100 km range of the AWACS.

This stand true for every radar in the world, no matter what its origin.

Also Erieye can monitor just one section at a time ie only 150 degrees at 350 km. But since India-Pak border is pretty straight that wouldn't be a disadvantage to you.

And you have to protect your plane too. So you've got to keep it at least 100 kms inside your border.

I think PAF needs at least 6-7 AWACS on eastern border to keep Indians on their toes.

What will happen if PAF is flying a mixed strike package with F 16 for strike along with JF 17 with air cover wont it cause any problems inbetween fighter communication and AWE&C or every fighter is going to be linked only to the ground control?

As told above, JF-17 has western compatible data link system, which can work with any western platform. So JF-17s and F-16s will work together fine and so with Erieye system.

Listen troll. even if i post just ( . ) a dot it has more worth then your low quality posts which are full of baseless assumptions. Show me one credible source that proves Erieye system can only detect a 5m2 target at 350 km and small size air crafts such as MK2 at 225-300 km the figures that you pulled out from toilet.
In dense clutter electronic warfare environment radars range are heavily reduced but Erieye has very good jamming resistance thats why the range is 350km. Same applies for every radars systems out their.
