RAWALPINDI: Visiting the Sulemanki sector along the Working Boundary, army chief General Raheel Sharif said on Saturday that Pakistan Army was equally ready for conventional war.

“With an unprecedented level of successes in the war against terror, we have become the most battle-hardened army and are equally ready for conventional war,” he said, according to a statement issued the military’s media wing.

The army chief spent his day with Pakistan Army and Rangers troops and war veterans and specially appreciated the highest state of the troops’ morale and ‘the best form’ of vigilance along the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary.

Interacting with the soldiers, Gen Raheel said Pakistan Army proudly carries its heritage and tradition of soldiering and chivalry. He said the army had always measured up to any challenge and taken inspiration from its war heroes and their spirit of sacrifice.

The army chief also laid a floral wreath at the monument of Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed (Nishan-e-Haider). He paid rich tributes to shuhada and ghazis for fighting bravely and rendering supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland.

Earlier, on arrival at Sulemanki, he was received by Corps Commander Lahore Lt Gen Sadiq Ali, Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt Gen Javaid Iqbal and Punjab Rangers DG Maj Gen Umer Farooq Burki. [WITH ADDITIONAL INPUT FROM APP]

No we don't. He's a good leader who leads his soldiers well. But he is not our last hope. Better get out of this messiah making culture...
but you have to admit that he is only army chief we got in 70 yrs who was loyal to his country. political system has yet to produce a single such leader at the top so army is winning now by 1-0. and yes there is NO or very little hope after his retirement as the statistics of both institutes in producing good leader at the top is very very pathetic.

Well guys let's not turn the thread into another Raheel Shareef retirement thread. The topic is Pakistan's readiness for a conventional war. This statement comes at the right time when India is inching closer to a full fledge war, gross violations of human rights in Kashmir, false flag attacks, firing across the border and on LOC, false claims of sir jee kal "straiks", sponsoring of terrorism in Pakistan, then Indian sub trying to enter Pakistani waters, and then airspace violation through drone..etc

Something is definitely cooking and coming days will be critical...with upcoming change of military command in Pakistan, change of political command in USA have conicided...but I believe the institutions should be stronger than individuals. Let's wait and see

Guys although not directly relevantt but in case of full blown war logistics is key ...

Now good thatt a significant no. Of our system are of chinese origin so questions are

1. Will they keep the logisttic lines open in case of war ?
2. Will china step in ?

I also would like to invite comment what would be our strategy for change of army chief?

If i would be indian commander and need to invade Pakistan then ideal time would have been new army chief appointment ...

Our incompetent gov cares notthing but its own power and money ... They have not announced armychief hence handing over and taking over will be very short ... Although our armed forces are discplined but only army chief has hands on with all.round issues along with coordination with paf and pn ...

He would require atleast couple of months to take control of all the Divisions ...

So how are we prepared to address this risk ... It is like changing a commander in middle of low intensity war ...

nothing is cooking. stop watching ary news. army chief will retire on his set date. nawaz will try his best to choose the one who suits him best and not the country. the new command will be tested . if he proved to be pro nawaz then may LOC violations by india may be reduced. if verdict of panama case goes in favor of nawaz then nothing can stop him and he will be having no resistance in becoming PM in next term (if pak survives that long). nawaz needs two things badly 1. pro nawa army chief 2. panama case verdict in his favor. and then he will be the ultimate king of pakistan. we have to admit despite all of his corruption and anti army propaganda raheel sharif acted like kiyani.

@bold....Unfortunately, what u are saying is true... I had the highest respects for Gen Raheel Sharif, but if you see now....

1) Gen Raheel sharif also turned a blind eye to ruling party(PML n)'s corruption...just like Gen Kiyani turned a blind eye to PPP's corruption

2) Gen Raheel sharif also failed to act /punish someone on national security breach, dawn leaks, just like Gen Kiyani failed to punish anyone on memogate... In Gen kiyani's time, they were satisfied with Hussain Haqqanis resignation, and let him go to USA...where Hussain Haqqani is noy lobbying against Pakistan.... Now Gen Raheel Sharif is satisfied with Parvez Rasheed's resignation...and here they have not even blamed Parvez Rasheed, for security breach..but just for not stopping tht story to publish... They havent even accused him of being the source of tht story, and are still satisfied with his resignation....

So in the end result....Gen Kiyani and Gen Raheel both did mukmuka / NRO on national security breaches..which is very sad

Why would the army chief punish politicians or civilians? This is the job for local law enforcement, the courts & the FIA. IMHO he is doing fine & is respecting boundaries.

Government needs to cough up more money for PA and PAF, the corrupt politicians are sitting there smuggly while our soldiers are sacrificing themselves for the sake of the country. We need more money for offensive capabilities to take the war to our enemies. India has been gearing at speed for this eventuallity , aided and abetted by other enemies of Pakistan and the Mulsim world. It's time we doubled our Hi-Tech defence industries and got our people readied for war: both nuke and conventional.

Oh how this needed to be said, this raheel praising propoganda was actually started by our corrupt politicians who wanted to take the glory away from the institution of army and give it to one man, hence giving wieght to thier idiotic narrative that army is a notorious lot, nations who rely hero worshiping swiftly fall, im sure every top tier general is just as if not more capable and vigilant that raheel shareef, moreover actuall policy is not made from the coas office, it is a dictation which comes from the think tanks of isi
