ISLAMABAD: Extraordinary security arrangements have been made as Chinese President Xi Jinping is likely to visit Pakistan on April 19. Pakistan will deploy JF17 Thunder planes in air and Pakistan Army's Triple One brigade for security of the honorable guest, SAMAA reported.
Pakistan has prepared an over-the-top security layout for the honorable visitor. The preparations have been started for a red carpet reception of the Chinese president. A reception committee led by Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is seeing about the concerning arrangements.
According to sources, a fleet of eight JF-17 Thunder will receive the president of People's Republic of China as his plane enters the Pakistani airspace and with a salute, will escort him to Islamabad airport, where President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will receive him.
A 21-gun salute will be presented to the honorable guest at the airport. Triple One Brigade of Pakistan Army will stand guard on his route from Noor Khan Airbase to the President House.
The sources said the Chinese president will arrive in Pakistan in the afternoon of April 19 and will leave for his country in the evening of April 21.
The Foreign Office spokesperson declined to confirm the dates of visit, saying the finalized dates will be announced later.
The sources said the security agencies did not give clearance to the visiting dignitary to plant a sapling at the Memorial Garden, Shakarparian.
President Will Visit This Year, China FM Confirms
It should be mentioned here that China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi made this announcement on Thursday. He said that President Xi Jinping will visit Pakistan this year in what will be the first trip by a Chinese head of state to its western neighbor in nine years.
"Wang Yi said President Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Pakistan at the earliest possible date this year," a statement posted to the Foreign Ministry's website late on Thursday said.
"This will be President Xi's first visit to Pakistan as head of state, and the first visit by a Chinese president in nine years," Wang said, adding that China and Pakistan are "iron-clad pals and true friends".
"This is not a dictate from heaven nor was it achieved in a single day. It illustrates how bilateral relations have weathered the trials of history and established a high degree of mutual understanding, trust and assistance," Wang said.
Since taking office in 2013, Xi has pushed the idea of a Silk Road Economic Belt that would connect China to South Asia and Central Asia with roads, railways, ports and airports. --SAMAA/AGENCIES
