Pakistan raises issue of F-16 sale with visiting US commander

PAF has Only THREE options

1 F 16 -- pay the entire 700 million

2 JF 17 Block 2 / block 3

3 J 10 WHEN the WS 13 engine gets ready

That is all ; No SU 35 ; No Eurofighter ; No J 11

.
1. Su-35
2. J-10 variant
3. JF-17 block III

.
It depends on how many PAF wants...Here is a scenario...
110 EFT cost approximately 10 billion USD.

PAF has a delivery date starting 24 months from today for the next 7 years , the cost would come down to 1.5 billion per year. Now if this is to be increased by procuring more stuff from the same country selling the EFT like Naval equipment. The total cost of 15-20 billion USD can increase the time of acquiring these over 20 years bringing the per annum cost to even lower.

well 110 is too much, we don't need that many , at least not until 2025 .. 36 EFT's with Spare Parts , Training , Weapons , Over-Haul Facility .. how much it cost ?? around 5 Billion I guess ?

EF seems very unlikely. It is just too expensive and it needs approval from the entire consortium. This is a European project with various countries involved in its production.

Gad damnn it ...guys some of our corrupt members of parliament can buy 5 squadron of F16 , if govt recover their corrupt money. ...ist just question of few million of dollars......Nawaz can pay these F16 from his off shore account....and lot others....lolzzzz

PAF and PN require 2 sqd each for deep strike...This is 72 aircraft.

PAF is replacing 190-200 aircraft which is approximately 11 Sqd. So if PAF decided to replace these by 6-7 sqd of JF-17 and the remaining with EFT you get to the figure of approx 100 aircraft.

36 would cost around 3-4 billion but adding more would bring the price down which Pakistan is looking at.

These countries are willing to sell the EFT...
Germany is the only country that could possibly negate the sale....Highly unlikely because they want money at the moment.

Is it as expensive as operating Rafale or SU- 30 MKI....No

EF is 25% more expensive than Rafael, that is why it lost the MRCA bid.

36 EFs will cost $11 Billion.

Hello ,Germany doesn't need money at all ,Why you say that .Problem with Euro Fighter is that it is comparable to Rafale in many aspects so it will be challenge to manage high numbers .WHat we need is not multi role but Air superior fighter probably J10C fits the bill

Germany is trying to support entire Europe hence it is depleting her resources very fast. Now it requires some investment in places which could hep the EU countries directly.

EFT is being produced in UK, ITALY, SPAIN and GERMANY so if Pakistan or any other country procures this aircraft from ITALY or SPAIN then Germany would not need to pay for keeping their production line open. UK is in the processes of leaving the EU (Referendum is Planned in JUNE) hence increasing the load on Germany.

Trench 3 is supposed to be a multi-role fighter aircraft. EFT by design was made to be Air Superiority fighter and this is the very reason Pakistan is interested.

PAF would not go of J-10's because then it would be depending only on one supplier which PAF would not want. Hence it would require a Western supplier to replace USA.

Your first 2 paragraphs even negates the statement you are refering too .In short we like EFT but it will not happened simply too larger numbers will be required .Regarding single supplier China is more trust worthy then US and Europe ,J10C has potential to be in PAF lines as it offers AESA along with F17 will be quite force ,Also if we will be able to get AESA F16 V will be on cards

PAF need to place a large order and that is where the chance of EFT comes. J-10C gives the same capabilities which JF-17 block 3 would have. Hence it would not be selected.

PAF is looking to get AESA radar from Europe most likely it would be Italian hence F-16V's would still be available. The issue that PAF would face is how are they going to replace the F-16's by 5th Gen aircraft.

If one understands this then the next procurement is very clear...

Actually J-10C is like F-16E/F or F-16V.

Pakistan couldn't effort EFT in small numbers let alone large numbers. going by the Kuwait deal 28 EFT for $9 billion is $300 million each

J10C would be interesting, but do you want to induct another 4th gen fighter that's equal or inferior to the F-16?

best bet would be buy 8 used F-16 and upgrade them along the rest of your F-16s to the V standard. probably would cost $500 million.
