Pakistan Railways to get engines from India

Did any one has a logical explanation about the reason of Pakistan buying engine from India???? I mean logical means financial implication perspective?
What advantage Pakistan will get by buying from its enemy country? Of course Why not China or Iran(As stated by some member)? Is this deal is a part of political corruption between India Pak politicians or there is some definite advantage of Indian engines that is being considered?

They are not buying it, they are just leasing it.

Why Pakistan does not buy locomotives from Iran? Bangladesh is buying Iranian locomotives which are based on German and French technology. They are cheap and reliable with DESA Diesel built engines. Why should Pakistan buy/rent from India?

You won't be able to afford the Iranian ones. Pakistan Railways already bought about 150 Chinese locos, out of which many don't run anymore. On top of that PR is procuring another 150 locos from GE America. All this within a time frame of 10 years. So the money allotted for acquisition is already spent.

This deal with Indian Railways to lease locomotives, if it is allowed at all will just be a stop gap measure. To make sure that passenger and goods aren't left stranded on the tracks for the lack of locomotives. Now if Iranian Railways have spare locomotives(broad gauge) to lease to Pakistan, then Pakistan should surely look into it.

Along with leasing Indian rail engines, Why shouldn't Pakistan hire Lalu Prasad Yadhav to revive the Pakistan Railways... :P

The other troll with EU flag as well.
Just keep enjoying the troll group either supplementing each other or engaging in fake debate.

On the subject! What more can we expect from Bilor+PPP alliance... if possible they would gift all Pakistan to Indians or even change the name of Pakistan.

BTW.. we have a locomotive factory in Rawalpindi...

Why not Bilor privatize the Railway instead of in-debiting the nation for few hundred million$ more?????

actually not such a bad idea . he is out of work and looking.:woot:
if this deal does happen it will help strengthen the ties between Indian and Pakistan.

Any Idea what is the reliability of Indian Railway's Engines? I know that IR does not buy Rolling Stocks from outside.
Is not they circa 70's technology. the IR Engineers "R&D" of Original USA made Engines from '50s ?

Just imagine the Pakistanis making a rail link right next to the border or LoC and Pakistani troops arriving to the Indian border in trains run by locomotives made in India.

A rail link to LoC is impractical. Won't happen.

It's a good development. Does India make it's own locomotives ?

.
yar aap log lalu shahab ka khilaf kyu ha ?

As far i know wasn't that man responsible for the betterment of your railways or not ?

.
We use both Iranian and Indian. Mainly our hasina is interested in Indian engine.

Yeah

Following are production companies

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited [29]
Chittaranjan Locomotive Works [30]
Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW) [31]
Golden Rock Locomotive Workshops
Bharat Earth Movers Limited
SAN Locomotive & Engineering Co Ltd. Benglore.[32]

It has supplied locomotives to other countries such as Germany, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Mali, Senegal, Sudan ,Tanzania, Angola, and Vietnam and also to a few users within India, such as large power plants.

.
Well the bottom line is that not having locomotives will cost Pakistani Citizens to lose their jobs and old people who need pension and retirement to not be funded

I think getting Locomotives is URGENT and saving jobs and so for that matter 40 locomotives form China and 40 from India is ideal , provided we have the necessary technology/man power to maintain these assets for 30 years

.
BECAUSE OF THAT OUR RAILYWAY GONNA ******! GOOD PLANING!

No Iranian locos in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Railway now owns basically two types of locomotives viz Diesel Electric(DE) & Diesel Hydraulic (DH). The total fleet as on 30th June 2005 comprised 253 Diesel Electric (68 BG, 185 MG) and 33 Diesel Hydraulic (10 BG & 23 MG) locomotives. The type-wise breakdown of the locomotives during the past years is shown in table No.6.

Pahartali and Dhaka Diesel Workshops undertake repairs of MG Diesel Locomotives while Parbatipur Diesel Workshop undertakes repairs of both BG & MG Diesel Locomotives. Heavy repairs and overhauls of diesel locomotives are done at Central Diesel Workshop, Parbatipur. The existing main line locos are all DE type manufactured by ALCO (USA) , MLW/ Bombardier Inc. (Canada) & Hitachi (Japan) for BG and General Motors (USA/Canada), MLW (Canada), Hitachi (Japan), ABB Henschel (Germany), DLW (India) and Hyundai(S. Korea) for MG.
