Pakistan pockets remittances amounting to $18.4b

Pakistanis need to do more we should send more remittance and make at-least $30 Billion from remittance alone.

No Pakistanis in Pakistan need to do more and fix the fu<ked up system.

Expat Pakistanis have no requirement to send anything back. Once my parents pass away the odds of me sending thousands of dollars to family members, that I barely know, is very slim combined with the fact that they are quite well off.

Thats one of the worst ways to do it.
no that's the one of the coolest way our politician got .. Ayan ali case is similar to it

Money goes to place like dubai ... they purchase something like property there because Dubai authorities don't ask from where money come from ...

sell the property or asset there and then remit it back in Pakistan as a complete legal money which is also exempted by tax authorities as well

.
And yet these pakistanis suffer when they return to pak with no respect at airports i my self gone through it and never pak govt highlited what overseas pakistanis did for pakistan no facilities on govt behalf to thank overseas pak and yet we double it every year

I have sent tens of thousands since 2004 to my family in Karachi through proper channels; I still do--every month! But I certainly don't expect any "thanks" or preferential treatment at the airport or elsewhere. It is a different matter that sometimes--as in my last trip in 2013--people in the airport and the staff seemed to have become a bit friendlier realizing a Desi who has lived in America for very long. Heck, against my protest, some let me jump the line to the immigration counter!

Now, I did have some beef against the heightened call charges to Pakistan over last few years but now I pay only about 4 cents/minute through Raza.com ... Someone in PTCL rectified the situation.

"Pakistan pockets remittances amounting to $18.4b"

The heading shows that the person who wrote this article does not fully understand the meaning of pocketing the money ! The overseas Pakistani work hard to earn money to support their families in Pakistan. Since the corrupt politicians have pocketed the money instead developing employment in Pakistan.

So out of almost 20 billion dollars in remittances 2/3 of that derives from the GCC and almost 1/3 from KSA. That's even more than I thought initially.

Economic reforms are needed in Pakistan and the removal of corrupt politicians. It's holding the big potential of Pakistan down just like in the Arab world.

"Saudi Arabia and Pakistan have identified steps to be taken to boost their two-way trade. The volume of their two-way trade in 2013 was $4.7 billion which they said is not at par with the potential that exists in both countries. Pakistani exports to Saudi Arabia were only $488 million."

 - Khaleej Times

That's way, way too low considering the potential. I don't have the data from 2014 or the one from the first two fiscal periods this year.

Does anyone have any idea about the trade volume between the GCC and Pakistan and how that trade volume compares with other trading partners of Pakistan? I am curious.

@Armstrong @Metanoia @waz @Horus @MastanKhan @Super Falcon @Al Bhatti @United @chauvunist @Jungibaaz @Aether @TankMan @Peaceful Civilian @Imran Khan @xyxmt @Desert Fox @Shamain @rockstar08 etc.

It seems that our "Muslim" leaders are even more pathetic than I thought. What a joke! Sorry.

Is there a Pakistani economist on PDF based in Pakistan who could tell me about the system in Pakistan and what to do in order to create growth other than the obvious (combat corruption)? How can the GCC and Pakistan for instance increase their trade relations even further?

Genuinly curious hence I am asking.

Thanks.

Right on sir! I'll send the memo to all the expats.

I think the expat demographics are different in UK and KSA. A lot of Pakistanis in the UK have moved their immediate families with them so sending money back to Pakistan is not required. Its different in KSA where a major chunk of the expats are laborers who send money back to their families in Pakistan.

yeah they are investing in different projects in pakistan specially in real estate all we need is to give security to over seas pakistan on their investment from gullu butts .
