Pakistan’s prime minister, Imran Khan, will visit Iran Sunday to meet President Hassan Rouhani before heading to Saudi Arabia as part of his mediation efforts to help defuse tensions between the two countries.

Khan’s peacemaking mission comes days after he announced in New York on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly that U.S. President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman had both asked him to mediate with Tehran.

“Pakistan maintains close relations with Saudi Arabia and it is our strategic partner. Iran is our neighbor and friend. Pakistan wishes to prevent further deterioration in differences between the two brotherly Islamic countries,” Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Friday.

“Very soon I will be accompanying the prime minister and we will travel to Iran, we will also visit Saudi Arabia. Our effort will be to help remove the misunderstandings and reduce the tensions to preserve regional peace,” Qureshi told reporters while speaking in his native eastern city of Multan.

The foreign minister noted Pakistan can ill-afford another conflict in the region because it is already dealing with security and economic challenges stemming from the war in neighboring Afghanistan, which entered its 19th year this month.

tata mara fixes our problem, these ba strds are egoistic mullahs.
I swear these two are trojan horses pretending to be ummah fighters they have benefited western countries indirectly sometimes directly.

may be fix their problem and then hope they will fix ours?

There is a much much bigger geopolitics at play between iran and saudi arabia than it's between say india and china or Pakistan. So it's nearly impossible to achieve (this so called self given peace initiative, unless tomorrow sun is rising from west. PM Imran in this effort is just breaking his sweating at the cost of his governance back home. As i said man needs to get his priorities straight.

And to answer your comment; by now we (Pakistanis) shall realize that no one, specially our baradars are coming to solve jack shit. We are on our own, so sooner we come to our senses the better.

Good, this would be our biggest achievement if we can struck a deal between Iran and KSA .

Is there are a war going on between 2 countries?

may be fix their problem and then hope they will fix ours?

Our problem is financial, on which we get plenty of cushion from GCC hope Iran also chip in with a matching amount.

Could you please expand on it?

What about RAW in Iran? What's the beef there?

Farz pura karna he. Baqi Allah taala jaane.

We are not responsible after this, and no one can blame Pakistan.

Why didn't we tried earlier? like during NS time, when Mecca was attacked?

Pakistan's current regime has more interests in sorting out the problems of Iran than the problems of Kashmir, such a b****** they are.

By bringing peace between Saudi Arabia and Iran, Imran Khan will be offending the world order that is pushing these two countries to fight and cut each other's National power. This world order is backing Huthies and is attacking Saudi oil facilities to blame it on Iran, and then is trying to blow Iranian oil tankers and blame it on Saudis.

Imagine the kind of planning, investment, and pain the world order is going through to instigate this war and how pis$ed they'd be when a person visits these two countries and establishes peace.

y bringing peace between Saudi Arabia and Iran

It's one sided hostilities, in general term terrorism!

attacking Saudi oil facilities to blame it on Iran
Have you seen the investigation report of attack? and those of earlier attacks? It's Iran written all over, actually US offered to attack Iran in reply but Saudis declined!

Pakistan's current regime has more interests in sorting out the problems of Iran than the problems of Kashmir, I have only one word for them the b*******.

Still IK can request Iran to not target Kaaba!

Could you please expand on it?

Current middle east is nothing but cluster of proxies, or installed proxy governments (enemy's- enemy's, enemy's-enemy's friend, enemy's- friend's enemy and so on and so forth)
All the western powers are riding their proxies on a single factor there, beef between Saudi- Iran- Turkey. Everything in-between have strategic importance, either for Israel, their bases, mineral rich countries etc. Basically interests of each power for their domination in current world's geopolitics. This region have decades of planning/installation of proxies. It's not gonna be gone by couple of Imran Khan's back and forth visits. Things are the way they are by design, and it's gonna stay the same in foreseeable future.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will depart for Iran on one-day official visit on Sunday (tomorrow) for mediation between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The PM Imran will hold a meeting with top Iranian leadership including President Hassan Rouhani, aiming to reduce the ongoing tensions in the region.

Imran Khan will reach Saudi Arabia on Tuesday and take the Saudi government into confidence regarding his visit to Iran.

The PM will also meet Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his one-day stay in the country.

The prime minister will also highlight Kashmir issue in Tehran and Riyadh.

It is pertinent here to mention that the federal cabinet meeting has been rescheduled owing to Imran Khan’s visit to Saudi Arabia.

Tensions have been escalating between Tehran and Riyadh since the September 14 drone attacks on a Saudi oil facility.

Although the Yemeni Houthi rebels have claimed responsibility, both Saudi Arabia and the US have blamed Iran for the drone strikes. a charge Tehran has strongly rebutted.

On the sidelines of the UNGA session in New York last month, Khan met Rouhani as part of the diplomatic push to defuse the Middle East tensions.

To follow up the discussions, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met three time his Iranian counterpart Javad Zarif in New York.
