Regardless of what Pakistan can do for Malaysia, this will be a short term problem for Malaysia. In the long run, the consumer market will rebalance itself. EU ban on palm oil is the real worry from Malaysian perspective.
Stifling trade as retaliation for an insignificant comment is not the best way to handle this problem. Malaysia has proposed to increase imports from India to balance the trade deficit. Read again. It says edible. Not palm. India does not purchase entire edible oil from Malaysia. India imported 4.4mt of palm oil while pakistan imported 1.1mt. Pakistan's consumption is about 3mt whereas Bangladesh is about 1.8mt. Both countries together can easily compensate. In not mentioning Turkeye who also import significant amount of palm oil.
