Pakistan parliament passes resolution condemning Afzal Guru's hanging

NEW DELHI: India reacted sharply to the resolution passed by Pakistan parliament on Thursday to condemn the hanging of terrorist Afzal Guru, saying it was "highly improper" with foreign affairs minister Salman Khurshid tersely asking Islamabad not to dabble in internal matters of this country.

"They should address matters of their own country. They should let us address the matters of our country," Khurshid told reporters when asked about the resolution.

Trying to fish in troubled waters, Pakistan's National Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution condemning the hanging of Parliament attack convict Guru and demanded the return of his body to his family.

Parliamentary affairs minister Kamal Nath also said that India has taken the step to hang Guru as per its law.

"India, as a responsible country, is doing things constitutionally, and as per the law. For the parliament of Pakistan to pass such a resolution is highly improper," he said.

The National Assembly or lower house of Pakistani Parliament on Thursday passed a resolution moved by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, who heads a special parliamentary panel on Kashmir.

Besides condemning the hanging of Guru, the resolution expressed concern at the situation created in Jammu and Kashmir by the execution.

Pakistan is a state you cannot trust or believe, on one hand the most heinous crimes are swept under the carpet and on the other they pass resolutions for a terrorist who was sentenced by the apex court of our country..

Any alma mater will have soft feelings for it's alumni. This dude, though Indian, received all his professional skills and education from Muzaffarbad in Pakistani Kashmir. India tried to make him a doctor by letting him enroll in a centrally sponsored medical college, but his true calling and aspiration was not to become a doctor and save people, but quite the opposite. And he received generous training from Pakistani groups in Pakistani Kashmir, where he learnt to set off IEDs and shoot people. Any mentor would have tender feelings for their student, their trainee, their protégé.

Like Colonel Trautman says about John Rambo in "Rambo - First blood":

"I recruited him, I trained him, I commanded him in [Kashmir], for several years. I'd say that makes him mine."

India should go ahead and pass a resolution of what happened to Shias in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar. A second resolution to the way the Pakistani government treated the Christians in Lahore recently.

These all deserve resolution, although Afjal Guru was tried in court, given opportunity for mercy petetion to the President (in which you beg for mercy after admitting your guilt).

If the above is not enough then a resolution overdue in Musharraf's muder of Baloch leader Akbar Bugati.

These resolutions are overdue.

It does not matter to them,
Fazlur rehman is a politician like all other JI and PML ones. To them the public sympathy for the Kashmir Crisis is a votebank.. that votebank is stimulated by glorifying Afzal Guru.
Their goals have little to do with Pakistanis.. Fazlur Rehman could care little less for any other Pakistani other than himself or his family. Wiki-leaks is testament to him offering the US his votebank.
Whether it means being anti India/US/Shia/Bareilvi/Qadiyani is irrelevant to him.. it the votebank that counts.

And what is their votebank? 80% of them are unemployed or low-wages youths who are frustrated to the hilt. Their troubles are created for them in their view by the inept and corrupt government installed by the US and in cahoots with India who are hell bent on killing the Kashmir Muslim brethren(who must be Sunni). Every Pakistani who dies is either killed by the US or India through their proxies and the Taliban(whichever split group) are fighting a just cause. Hence their vote reflects their frustration and hatred of seeing someone driving a better car, moving around with his girl.. or just eating better...whatever he does not have or deserve is due to god's test of him and conspiracy by India and US. Ipso facto.. He sees the Jamaat as fighting for his cause.. against these Indo/US conspiracies, so while he may not get anything beyond what he has in his life.. being able to "fight" the Kafir conspiracy is consolation enough for him.


as an example closer to you.. there was an article in TIME mag sometime back after the Gujrat Riots with Modi at the cover. Modi was asked about the Gujrat riot and he did not comment much on what he could have done..or whether it showed him as Anti-Muslim..
However , they quoted a good friend of his.. a certain Mr Khan.. who commented that his silence in that Muslim massacre had little to do with his own personal feelings.. but rather his votebank.. he knew he was supported by extremists and hardliners from Hindu-religious parties and to maintain those votes he needed to retain power.. he chose silence in Gujrat.

The word terrorism has only one definition.It does not change country to country.It's our misfortune that Pakistan's leadership failed to understand this today. When your own countrymen are burning in the same fire of terrorism, a firm stand against this disease would have created a much positive vibes in both India and Pakistan.

u might be true..but this is just a diplomatic blunder. india is busy with its economy and stopped meddling with pakistans internal politics for quite some time now..u've already lost the west support on pipeline issue.and u've have loans to repay...not to mention the internal disturbances in pakistan..and next year india is heading for elections..in this highly sensitive time may be pakistani legislature should have behaved a little mature..india is already facing troubles with italy..and now pakistan does this.. legislators cannot face public next year if they sit quiet..i thought that relations between both the nations might improve but for what ever be the unfortunate reason its not working

u might be true..but this is just a diplomatic blunder. india is busy with its economy and stopped meddling with pakistans internal politics for quite some time now..u've already lost the west support on pipeline issue.and u've have loans to repay...not to mention the internal disturbances in pakistan..and next year india is heading for elections..in this highly sensitive time may be pakistani legislature should have behaved a little mature..india is already facing troubles with italy..and now pakistan does this.. legislators cannot face public next year if they sit quiet..i thought that relations between both the nations might improve but for what ever be the unfortunate reason its not working
