Pakistan officially inducts HQ 9 Air Defence system

Exactly, I was about to point out the same thing.

Those days are long gone when our nuclear sites used to be the only thing requiring such heavy protection.

Now there are plenty of other strategic and operational level assets which require equal protection.

As already pointed out, the exact deployment area of this AAD asset will be away from Karachi at a place where it will be able to deny multiple approaches required by IAF to target our important assets.

And then let's not forget available approaches from the west of Karachi, from the direction of Gwadar and Pasni, a long detour using our vulnerable sea flank can completely bypass our AD assets deployed on our eastern frontier.... These vulnerable approaches are also being covered and vulnerabilities addressed by some high end assets, talk about which you'll not find anywhere.... Well... Let's save it for the coming months....
Agar ghalati se koi interior Sindh mein bhatak jaye tu hosh urr jayein unn ke .. khair, uss se pehle hi unko aik hilux aa ke rok lega aur chai pilane lejaye ga.

The system was actually shown in the clip(or aspects of it) of the new AD center by ISPR and no one caught it then. Im sure in the coming months too things in plain sight will be lost to many.

Now that they are likely not used, some houses near Islamabad highway between Pindi and Isb had interesting things happening there. Plain house, plain neighborhood but with a 3d scanner(back in 2007) among other curious instruments in the drawing room and plainclothes in white mehrans.

Then again, right next to a museum the entire setup and architecture of the AD system and most kids not really knowing what the game arcade looking stands were all for.

But I digress, there is the gap existing within LOMADS for a kinetic kill system against missiles and guided weapons but then maybe all that watching of ertrugul pays off??…after all, plenty of AHEAD shells that can be put to good use on a different more mobile system.

Buahahhahaha now we won't let you fly your (Indian) aircrafts from your airbases

Urao na Jahaz Pathankot Srinagar Halwara Sirsa uttarlai or surat garh se 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Good old 35mm is very effective. Specially in today’s drone era. Korkuts would be nice. Better still would be FK2000 type system mated with 35mm AHEAD capable system for gap filling and providing close in defence for HQ9s.

Indians have gone on a rampage on social media calling HQ9 Chinese maal even called their own s300 useless bcz Hq9 is derived from it. Funny thing is that they dont even have s400 yet and might not even get it bcz of CAATSA sanctions by US.

Indians don't have s300

HQ-9 and S-400 are different.

S-400 is a system of many missiles with different ranges and totally different radar and command units. The purchase decision was made a long time ago to see what Russia's best SAM technology is capable of and offer Chinese forces some look into this new system. It is very different to S-300 which HQ-9 originally was based from.

HQ-9 immediately then changed entire radar and command units to digital type but kept fast set up similar to S-300 using similar philosophy of how the various pieces are moved and set into a position.

S-400 has a 400km range 40N6 which only HQ-9B begin to get close to which should be above 300km range by similar measurement method.

If USA can buy S-400 they will as well. Does that mean USA's THAAD and GBI also their PAC-3 and Patriot are not as good as S-400?

Trust me if USA can buy Su-57 they also would. Doesn't mean it is better than F-22 or F-35.

US has stolen Pantsir missiles, bought Migs from blackmarket and Kh-31 at least. These are just the ones they admit to. I don't think trying acquire adversary technology for evaluation means domestic ones are worse.

S-400 if it is better and truly useful after evaluation against stealth target drones which China has many types of, then China would buy 100 battalions. I think S-400 is probably very useful still and advanced system but not to the point it is worth stopping HQ-9 and buying all S-400. Reverse engineering it is also unlikely since even 40N6 is similar to previous long range S-300.

Now China's got HQ-19, HQ-26 and HQ-29 along with SC-19 and many other types of long range missiles for either ballistic missiles or satellites. Nothing in 400km range for aircraft but 300km of HQ-9B is good enough. It is questionable just how useful against aircraft the 40N6 is at around 400km range.

USA buys other weapons not because it doesn't have enough quality and capability of it's own, it buys other weapons primarily to train it's Pilots and Military against the real thing they'd face in the future. Additionally, it buy one or more copies of these weapons to come up with Jamming, etc, against them. That's why in Syria, the S-400 hasn't produced even 5% of the results. S-400 on paper declares itself to be able to counter even Hypersonic weapons and high velocity supersonic missiles. I seriously doubt it.

Is Pakistan acquiring the HHQ-9 (naval version) also? How many batteries of HQ-9 are expected to be operational? I keep saying and will say again, Pakistan should acquire some SAM and a BVR missile and setup a new industry and produce it locally in large numbers (especially the SAM).

The max-range of PAC 2 of USA is only 120 km.

Even if the HQ9B has a max-range of 220 km, the Chinese admit that it is not as good as the S400.

You can think why Turkey, India, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, etc, all choose S400?

The greatest advantage of the S400 is not its range, but that it can launch many different types of missiles. This gives it a multi-level interception capability. The stability and reliability of S400's regional air defense capability are obviously superior to other similar systems.

. .
HQ-9 is a great option for Pakistan. The important question is which version does Pakistan have? The most advanced HQ-9 is more advanced than S-300p with an AESA radar but less than S-400. Whereas the most basic version is equal to S-300.
Also, in my opinion, HQ-9 should have been given to PAF instead of army air defence.
