Pakistan officially inducts HQ 9 Air Defence system

China offers Radars that would be fully capable of ABM with HQ-9BE systems, the same radars they use for HQ-19 (not confirmed, but assumed, given they’ve been seen in Chinese service and their role is known).
So yes, HQ-9BE can provide a moderate level of ABM capability, however the limiting factor currently is it’s missiles, if they are to develop dedicated missiles for it, it could be a rather potent entry level system for this. However it’s Main roles remain otherwise as I don’t see China developing those missiles for it, given they have HQ-19. HQ-9C, when it comes, will mostly be an upgrade in regards to its existing capabilities.

Would it be a wise decision to deploy a long range SAM system in middle of the enemy territory? IMHO It's expensive, large and a vital asset worth shrouding and protecting itself and not to be brought on the Frontlines.

Even then if you wanna use them in offensively well inside hostile territories and if somehow sh*t hits the fan, can we airlift them back to the safety? Can C-130s transport them? Or we would require il-78 for it, which we don't have many.
it would just cover the area of operation of Strike corps of PA in the same manner LY-80 would cover its capability of high mobility is the advantage which would beneficial in its deployment in this role.

My friend its not me who want to use it, I am just porpoising one of the possibility which I think have higher chances.

Where is Butt Karhai restaurant under the Lahore heading? Do some homework before posting.
Forgot about Nair o Nair as well. Perhaps the most strategic asset. Must leave this forum for some time.

Mobile Long-range air defense systems are inherently offensive and defensive, and when ground troops attack, they must be followed by air defense systems.

That's why attack warships need to carry long-range air defense systems 。。。。 Note the two types of missile launches, both cold and hot. One of them is the HQ-9.

The speculation around range will never end, and the actual specifications and capabilities are unlikely to be officially revealed. But clearly this is a derivative of the HQ-9 lineage, that's all that we need to know.

The Pak armed forces were lacking a long range air defence system as a last line of defence - historically the Pak armed forces have adopted the US philosophy of 'active air defence' by air force assets. This system will be used as a defensive layer to protect sensitive strategic assets, and it will be interesting to see whether the PAF adopt the same system to protect their air bases. What this will not be used for is offensive operations - you run into all sorts of problems when you deploy what is essentially a semi-static long range point defence system in intensely contested air space, in addition to long range SOWs and electronic warefare. The indians are making this mistake, adopting a defensive system in an offensive posture as part of their 'integrated battle groups' (IBGS), a part of the 'Cold Start' doctrine.

Not impressed. How will this counter India's S-400s? That will cover most of Pakistani territory while Hq-9 will provide cover only over Pakistani territory.

Exactly what I was talking about. It's not that much mobile to continuously move it along the armor offensive and it would also be a strain to the logistics as well. Ideally if you have cleared around 300 km inside the enemy territory and if it's safe then you can move long range SAM system probably 100 or 150 kilometers across the border for defensive purposes.

While other more mobile short/medium range SAMs would cover the front lines moving with armored formations and long range SAM could provide an overall cover from a safe distance far behind from the actual action. But still best utilized for defensive purposes only.

Hi HQ9 P range at least will be around 150 plus to keep rafale and meteor missile at bay from PAF point of view I believe so
thank you
