Just a kind reminder, what people call Musharraf's coup was actually an attempt to save lives of hundreds of passengers and PIA plane. There was no way around it. Musharraf didn't advised the troops on ground and neither it was planned in advance.
Had the plane be allowed to land, there would still be rule of NS.
There was a judicial trial, wherein NS was declared criminal. His was allowed to leave country on grounds of compassion.

the security situation within Pakistan has been quite shaky past several decades. Wonder if they can actually deliver if Qatar hires them. And then there's the matter of participating teams and audience perception of risks.

No Sir , i was covering the whole story since last few months. That company contract were in jeopardy in Europe and Middle East due to this kickback news. If Pakistan took them in court , not only they pay the sue money they also lost all mega contracts around the world. Pakistan govt followed the lawsuit but lost due to documents provided by that company. Which were incomplete and falsified. Few months ago,It was ISI and FIA recover the original documents and kickback record of that company.
We all know everyone is robbing us because of corrupt bureaucracy. In every corruption case you ll find mastermind from bureaucracy.

I am not talking about few months ago---I am talking about over / around 5 years ago---when the company offered to pay 20 million or something like that fine and wanted to move out---. The govt was ready to take the deal but Judge Chaudhry took suo moto on it---and then did not follow thru---.

This current scenario is of a different kind---. We lost the 20 million dollars that we were being paid long before the law suit and then to top it off---we also paid the attorney fees to defend us---.
