Pakistan Navy ship SAIF will be paying a Goodwill visit to Maldives from 27-30 October, 2010.
Pakistan Navy ships making routine Port calls on the ports of friendly countries. Pakistan and Maldives enjoy close friendly relations which has been demonstrated through show of complete solidarity with the flood victims of Pakistan by the Maldivian nation.
In the same way, a large number of foreign tourists and Maldivian nationals were rescued by the Pakistan Navy helicopters and ships when Tsunami struck the region on 28 december 2004.
The call by Pakistan Navy Ship at Maldives is aimed to exchange experience between Pakistan Navy and Coast Guard of Maldives.
During the visit of the officers and sailors of PNS, SAIF will arrange and promote events of friendship with Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) including social work and the sports.
PNS Saif derives its name from Khalid Bin Walid, the famous companion of Prophet Muhammad (Prayers and peace be upon him). It is the third and the last ship of Sword class Frigates built at Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard, China.
The ship was commissioned in the Pakistan Navy on September 15 at Shanghai. It is equipped with state of the art weaponry, sensors and equipment making it capable of undertaking various kinds of operations at sea.
