It is my understanding however that PN will operate CM-302 (export version of YJ-12) which has a range of 290km rather than the 400km.
For normal exports CASIC claims the CM-302 operates with a range of 151 nautical miles or 280 kilometers. So its true in that sense. Considering Indian Navy BrahMos initiatives & Pakistan is NOT a normal export customer one can revisit the expressed range viz a viz original capability. It is my understanding however that PN will operate CM-302 (export version of YJ-12) which has a range of 290km rather than the 400km.
India is technically the CO-developer of brahmos so it wouldn't be subject to such restrictionsFor normal exports CASIC claims the CM-302 operates with a range of 151 nautical miles or 280 kilometers. I think Talwar vs 054A is a wash. 054A is handily superior in the air defense realm with its vls, although the weapons themselves are essentially the same system (derivatives of Buk). The difference is the Talwar use the single arm launcher and from what ive read it launches 1 every 8 seconds which leaves it open to saturation attacks. The 054A also out ranges the Talwar's Brahmos if the CM-302 actually have a 400km range. If not, they are equal. The thing is im not sure how well either the Shtil or the HQ-16 would be able to deal with hypersonic AShM of the other... My guess is not well. As for Talwar getting Barak-8, i dont see that happening. There is very little room for a large VLS on the deck of the Talwar. That would enable no more than 16 cells most likely (if the Shtil-1 launch arm is removed...if it even can be).Type 054 looks good but are they capable enough to beat indian Talwar frigates 1 on 1
I think type 054 are far superior in air defence and anti ship category but if Talwar frigates get BARAK 8 surface to air missile upgrade it will be dodger for type 054

The 054A however, can recieve a munitions change without any structural adjustments. The PN could simply upgrade to HQ-16B to give it a 70km range. Furthermore, PN could get china's permission to allow for integration of CAMM-ER which would be a game changer for these frigates as they could very likely be quad packed in the Chinese VLS allowing for up to 128 missiles capable of engaging hypersonic missiles between 45-100km range depending on various estimates (of course the likelihood of this is quite remote).
I think the biggest problem with Talwar is that it is positioned as an anti submarine frigate, but it does not have an anti submarine missile. Moreover, the Ka27 weapon cabin is too small to carry too many torpedoes. The performance of the Russian sonar system is also very poor. So Talwar's anti submarine capability is actually unqualified.Type 054 looks good but are they capable enough to beat indian Talwar frigates 1 on 1

gun maybe wont even come in useI think the biggest problem with Talwar is that it is positioned as an anti submarine frigate, but it does not have an anti submarine missile. The second problem is that Talwar's VLS can only launch PJ10 and cannot launch anti-aircraft missiles. It can only rely on single arm anti-aircraft missiles with poor performance. This makes Talwar almost dead when facing the CM-302 of 054AP.
Talwar's advantage is that its naval gun is better than 054AP.
Ship guns are useful. For the close enemy small ships, naval guns are the most appropriate weapons. In addition, naval guns can use air grenades for air defense. Shipborne guns can also be used to cover landing troops and attack enemies on the coast.gun maybe wont even come in use
