ISLAMABAD, July 15: Pakistan will take over next month the command of a multinational naval coalition patrolling waters around the Arabian Peninsula to stop terrorism and piracy and search vessels suspected of smuggling arms or material used for making nuclear weapons, an official source told Dawn.

This would be for the second time that Pakistan would get the command of Combined Task Force 150 (CTF-150) of the Coalition Maritime Campaign Plan on Aug 1 for four months.

The CTF-150 is one of the several naval units operating under the US-led maritime coalition that was formed as part of the Operation Enduring Freedom.

The United States, Britain, France, Italy, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and Pakistan all contribute to the maritime component of Operation Enduring Freedom.

The mission oversees the Straits of Hormuz through which almost a quarter of the world’s oil is transported from the Gulf.

While two other units handle the Gulf, CTF-150’s 15 vessels also patrol an area that includes the Gulf of Oman, the Arabian Sea, the Red Sea and parts of the Indian Ocean.

Pakistan Navy assumes command of CTF-150

KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy has assumed command of the Combined Task Force-150 (CTF-150) for the third time, the Inter-Services Public Relations announced on Monday. It said Rear Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah assumed command of the CTF-150 from French Navy’s Rear Admiral Alain Hinden during a change of command ceremony in Bahrain. The CTF-150 conducts maritime security operations in the Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman, Arabian Sea, Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. It has immense importance due to the presence of three most important choke points of the world, the Strait of Hormuz, Suez Canal and Babul Mandab in its area of operation and the fact that one-third of the world's oil supply is transported through these points. Addressing the ceremony, Rear Admiral Hinden said the CTF-150 had proved that the ocean is not the property or playground of smugglers, pirates, terrorists or traffickers. "We, on the high seas, in collaboration with our regional neighbours, will make every effort and bear the burden of enforcing the rule of international law of the seas, thousands of miles from shores,” he added. “In accordance with the policy of collaborative maritime security, the Pakistan Navy, despite resource constraints, remains committed to playing its role to realise the shared goal of regional stability and security," Admiral Zakaullah said while assuming the command.

Yes f-22 wat else? and boss i guess you havent been reading up or been doing your homework we are getting them soon there is no mystery in that this is not a no f-16 deal!
