Pakistan Navy to acquire more ships

ON BOARD PNS SHAMSHEER (Arabian Sea): Continuing to enhance its fighting capabilities and maintain the minimum deterrence, the Pakistan Navy would commission the fourth F-22P Frigate being built in collaboration with China and two latest fast attack craft within a year.

The F-22P, a multi-mission conventionally-powered frigate, is being built at Pakistan Shipyard. Under the deal with China, the PNS Aslat (the name of sword) will be inducted by April 2013, said an official of Pakistan Navy during a briefing onboard PNS Shamsheer.

The deal involved four F-22P frigates, six Harbin Z-9EC helicopters (already delivered to Pakistan Navy) and ammunition for the frigates. The first of the frigates, PNS Zulifqar, was delivered in September 2009, second PNS Shamsheer in 2010 and the third PNS Saif was handed over to Pakistan Navy in February 2011. An official of the 18th Destroyer Squadron said that Pakistan Navy with the available strength was fully capable of defending the country’s coastal line effectively.

Vice Admiral (retd) Ahmed Tasneem who was commander of submarine ‘Hangor’, which destroyed India’s warship ‘Kukri’ in 1971 said although Pakistan Navy with minimum resources was maintaining higher professional standards but they needed to acquire more surface ships and submarines. The F-22P’s hull contains China’s type 054 frigate’s radar cross-section reduction, which helps prevent detection by radars mounted on other ships, aircraft and anti-ship missiles.

Doesnt mean tht needs it is compulsory to have an AC for a naval version? a naval version =range,endrance etc... even F-16s are used for this purpose...

Not meant for carrier, rather a JF-17 for maritime strike (we've seen pics of JF-17 with C-802), probably for PAF Masroor.
Pakistan doesn't need a carrier. 2 squadrons stationed along the coast should be enough.

Although many have suggested that PN should acquire 11 Z-9C instead of 6 to replace or add some more power to its avaition fleet. There is also a need for some bigger ones like 11+ EH101 to replace Sea King.

2 nuclear subs in 8 years have the pn started with the infra work or for the supporting facilities have the made the nuclear reactor small enough to be in a sub what about crew training have the gone for that

WHY DON'T OUR DEFENSE FORCES Thinks ABOUT ATTACKING To?? WHEN EVER I READ ARTICLES OR AND NEWS THEY SAY WE HAVE ENOUGH FOR OUR DEFENSE, THE ENEMY WILL HAVE TO THINK ABOUT 1000 TIMES BEFORE ATTACKING US YEH RYT AGREE!!!


BUT IF WE HAVE BETTER FORCE AND ABLE TO ATTACK THEN OVER ENEMY WILL HAVE TO THINK ABOUT 10,000 TIMES BEFORE ATTACKING US "KEEPING IN MIND THAT OUR FORCES CAN BACK ATTACK THEM"
