which ship is that? It has Pakistani flag on it?

That is KD Kelantan, Kedah class (MEKO 100), offshore petrol vessel of the Royal Malaysian Navy. The Pakistani flag is meant to be as a token of respect by a visiting vessel known as courtesy flag or courtesy ensign.

KARACHI: A multinational naval exercise ‘Aman 11’ was formally inaugurated on Tuesday with a flag hoisting and opening ceremony held here at Pakistan Navy (PN) Dockyard.

Ships of the participating navies, observers, foreign diplomats and a large number of PN officers and sailors attended the ceremony. Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Abbas Raza said that PN’s initiative of multinational exercise Aman 11 is an effort, which will surely improve the response, tactics and procedures to enhance interoperability in a joint-operational environment. The exercise is focused on combating and countering all illegal activities particularly in the North Arabian Sea, which is very critical for the under-sea electric lines and serves as a lifeline for world energy economies.

Admiral Abbas further said that crime and terrorism were not confined to specific any boundaries rather their effects were felt all over the world. “This area also has the potential to improve the maritime trade of the region and of the world”, he said. He said that the use of sea routes by terrorists, human trafficking, smuggling and piracy are of major concern. We need to make collective efforts to eliminate these for lasting peace in the region, he added. Commander Pakistan Fleet extended warm welcome to the participating navies and hoped that the joint exercise will help find common answers against maritime threats.
