Pakistan Navy Plan to Buy Four more F22 P Frigates

.
btw, frigates are anti sub marine and anti air craft?
A frigate is a warship with a mixed armament, generally lighter than a destroyer (in the US navy, heavier) and of a kind originally introduced for convoy escort work. Frigates are used to protect other warships and merchant marine ships, especially as ASW combatants for amphibious expeditionary forces.

Hi good morning.
Sir as far as I know China had the access to both SPADA and Carotale from Italy and France in 90s from which they developed the LY 60 and HQ61, from which they evolved this FM90 system. So I don't think that would have been any major difference.

On the new F22P batches it would most likely be 24-32 cell VLS for SAM and 2x4 launchers for Anti Ship missiles. More or less a mini Type054A coustomised to PN requirements.

If not then maybe an enlarged Type 056?

LY60 is not on par with SPADA-2000 which PAF operates.

Lets see what new batch of F-22Ps will have.

Sir Spada is hell different system, its much bigger and heavier and requires compatibility with chinese sensors and radars to be deployed.

If you have visited F-22P then you will know that with some modification it can replace HHQ-7Bs and F-22P has western systems to on board like sonar.

.
What configuration new batch of F-22Ps will have?? Will they have Universal VLS with YJ-18 & HHQ-16??

@Rashid Mahmood @Horus @waz @Penguin

Can someone tell me why PN did not go for 8 cell SPADA-2000 for F-22Ps instead of HHQ-7s???

The configuration of batch 2 is unknown, but not likely to substantially differ (there isn't much room for a tall VLU as needed for the missiles you mentioned.

SPADA 2000 is a landbased system from Italy, which uses the Aspide missile, a Sparrow derivative.

China subsequently developed its own missile family based on the Aspide Mk.1, with surface to air versions designated as the LY-60, and an air-to-air version designated as PL-10.

LY-60 is used on 3 of 6 Tariq class (ex UK Type 21 Leander class).

Which ship is this? And how many such vessels do the Pakistani coast guard/MSA operate?
Thanks.
@Penguin
This is the last remaining ex-PN destroyer, itself an ex-USN Gearing class destroyer. There were 6 (8?) suchs ships transferred to PN from USN (25th and 18th Destroyer Squadron with Gearing class D16O, D164-168) . 1972-87: Alamgir, Taimur, Tughril, Tariq, Tippu Sultan, Khaiber, Badr and Shah Jehan. There was only a single transfer from PN to MSA. It went to the breakers in 2010 iirc.

4F22P , for 200-300 Million is reasonable force increase at good cost

We should also lease 3 Type54 Ships from China for 10 Years

The 3 Type 54 , if they come after the F22P 4 new ships will add much needed depth in our NAVY and make it more professional and improve the operational efficiency at Sea

We need bigger ships to have offensive capabilities and type 54 could be good choice. But at the moment Navy is spending on Submarines. So may be in future we would see some new bigger ships joining PN.

.
the combo of submarines + fighters jets is best to maintain your defenses
I hope pakistan should have atleast 4 squadrons for naval role and at least 15 subs in coming future

Good going PN planners with so much limited resources

PN should go for 6-8 CSOC High Performance Frigates. With HHQ-16 and FN-3000, these would be more than well-equipped to replace the Type-21s. All the PN would need to do is stock up on OPVs and enlarged Klewang-class like FACs (for brown water and coastal ASW operations).

.
@ Penguin It is the Amazon class and not the Leander class.

.
Money? Maybe not available for export? Take your pick.

The F-22Ps were specifically designed according to PN needs. They're cheap, reliable, and potent. They're perfect for PN, which is usually cash strapped.

The F-22P is a general purpose frigate. From what I can tell, it has multiple uses, and has anti-air and anti-sub capabilities.
Instead of 4 F 22P we buy 2 type 052D destroyers this will shapen the teeh of PN for Airdefence role at sea hope they use minds keep buying same catogery system wint help we need different types of ships for specific holes to fill which strengthen our defence at sea

If Pakistan can afford it, that doesn't even take into consideration if China would even sell destroyers to Pakistan.
