BEIJING, Apr 20 : Pakistan navy frigate Shamsheer arrived at the port of Qingdao in East China’s Shandong province Sunday morning, ahead of the 14th annual meeting of Western Pacific Naval Symposium (WPNS), a Chinese media report said.
Pakistan navy frigate Shamsheer will participate in a multinational maritime joint operation "Sea Cooperation--2014" starting on April 23, the 65th anniversary of the founding of the Navy of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLAN).
Naval warships from 7 foreign countries have arrived in the Port of Qingdao o participate in the multi-national marine joint exercise.
The 7 warships from 7 countries, among which, 5 frigates from Bangladesh, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan and India, a patrol boat from Brunei and an amphibious dock landing ships from Indonesia are participating in this multinational maritime joint operation.
Spokesman of the PLAN expressed that the multi-national marine joint exercise, which is focused mainly on maritime search and rescue, is aimed at strengthening the in-depth exchange and pragmatic cooperation among the navies from various countries and improving their capabilities in maritime search and rescue.
