With the Fokkers gone, No. 27 sqn will be deactivated until new aircraft are inducted. It is said the Saab Swordfish is under consideration.
They are not good in front of Indian Poseidons

So what did ATRs replace?

No. 29 sqn ATR-72s replaced No. 27 sqn Fokkers in the roles the latter used to perform - surveillance, ASW, OTHT, para drops & cargo transport.

The P-3C fleet was reduced in the Mehran attack, and in 2018, CNS Abbasi outlined a new LRMPA requirement in one of his interviews (link).

Fokkers served PN Aviation for approx 32 years and served it well.

It was extensively utilized in more ways than it was designed for.

I had many of my training missions on these Fokkers.

An end of an era.

At least one fokker used to fly over my office every single morning until fairly recently. These aircraft were true workaholics for PN for sure.

There was small Air strip near the city but it was not really an airport.

with every thing in this world, we need to move on to newer platform with extensive upgrades. this is life and reality, older systems and people fade out and are taken over by newer things and more smart people.
