Pakistan Navy Chief meets Sri Lanka President

Pakistan Navy Commander Admiral Noman Bashir called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (08) at Temple Trees.

The Pakistani Naval Chief is in the island, to take part in the 60th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Navy.

Matters related to naval issues in both countries were discussed during the meeting between President and the Pakistani Naval chief. Matters related to exchange of Naval Training were also discussed.

Pakistani Ambassador in Sri Lanka Seema Illah Baloch, Secretary to President Lalith Weerathunga and Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Thisara Samarasingha were present during the meeting.

The Navy Commander of Pakistan, Admiral Noman Basheer who is in the island met with President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees last evening.

A communique issued by the president's media unit noted that the meeting had focused on the two countries exchanging naval skills and experience as well as sharing training expertise.

The Pakistani Navy Commander is in the country to attend the 60th anniversary celebrations of the Sri Lanka navy.

Pakistani High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, the President's Coordinating Secretary Lalith Weeratunga and Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe were also present at the occasion.

The international naval and maritime convention was held, in line with the Navy's 60th anniversary celebrations, at the Sri Lanka Navy headquarters yesterday.

Meanwhile the naval and maritime exhibition which commenced on the 4th of this month will continue until the 12th of this month at the premises of the Colombo Light House.
