ISLAMABAD: Pakistan should not unilaterally withdraw its forces from Siachen, the world's highest battleground, opposition leader Imran Khan has said.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief said in Lahore Sunday that there has be simultaneous withdrawal of forces by India as well as Pakistan, Geo News reported.

Imran Khan was reacting to Pakistan Army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani's statement April 18 that his country favoured talks with India to demilitarize the Siachen glacier.

"Peaceful coexistence between the two neighbours is very important so that everybody can concentrate on the well-being of the people," he said.

After visiting the Gayari army base that was hit by a massive avalanche April 7 entombing nearly 140 soldiers, the army chief said Pakistan was open to talks with India to demilitarise Siachen.

"Both countries should sit together to resolve all the issues including Siachen," Kayani said.

1. It is the only way of resolving the issue.

2. And pakistan can show its real and good intentions if any.

3. pakistan don't have to worry as India is known for its commitments and its pakistan who is not respecting shimla agreement which it have signed after the surrender of over 93,000 pakistani soldiers.

4. India is no urgency or need for taking first move as we can take care of military expenditure due to our fast growing economy, our casualty rate are minimum, we have got premium position held up about 2/3rd of total area.

5. Its pakistan's requirement an if it want, it have to take the initiative. :meeting:

.
It has to be taken by steps, 1/3 move this year and then the next. It is also costing India alot, even though they economy is growing; why waste money?

.
Pakistan has fought this war on Siachen for decades to avoid Indian occupation move further.

The first force to retaliate must be the Indian Army. If Pakistan moves back, then all the lives given in Siachen since the start till today, all the resources and headache is useless and it's a loss for us.

What Imran Khan has said, is in reply to Nawaz Shareef's statement that Pakistan should withdraw troops unilaterally. Its Pakistan's internal political stunts. No need to get all that hyper and bring economy, backstabbing etc into it.

Relax people!

Nawaz Sharif was passing flatulence from his mouth again when he suggested Pak should withdraw unilaterally.

Nobody is going any where from SIachen gents.

The thing is trust deficit, we have a fear that if we move, India will come down from the heights and get the base, and get the easier pathways, while India has the fear that if they go, we do another Kargil!!!

So, everybody is in a limbo!

.
Well , If Pakistan RECOGNISES the present borders of siachen , then i am sure we will have no problems in removing regular troops and Artillery and leaving just the Border guards
There is no such issue if mutual withdrawal is done.

Even Zardari has already made a statement that pakistan will not withdraw from siachin unilaterally. Moreover he has suggested to de-militrize the zone completely.

So, nothing left to discuss about.

Its our internal political discussion, for gods sakes everything doesn't revolve around India for you guys to be a butter inner on everything.

You guys have zero education on internal politics but comment like some tees maar khan and waste everyone's time.

There is no such issue if mutual withdrawal is done.

Mutual withdrawal from where & where to? India will only be agreeable to disengage from the Saltoro ridge & that too if Pakistan signs on to the AGPL. If anyone thinks that India will vacate its troops from the Siachen glacier itself, they are living in a fool's paradise. For that to happen & to obtain an equal withdrawal from the Pakistani side, Pakistan will have to withdraw almost a 100 km from their present lines. Don't think that will happen anytime soon.

50-100 km seems fine to me and yes I'm talking about equal simultaneous withdrawals. This is about saving lives of our soldiers not sneaking in some added benefit for Pakistan. Keep a smaller force, like 100-200 people (currently there are 20,000 people between us).

100-200 people can sit in joint bases and just keep an eye if the other side is advancing or not. If someone is, radio it in and voila, the other side can move its people as well.

The framework is no big deal, there are many many many options. Although this attitude that India is doing Pakistan a favor has to be dropped, your will only do a favor to your own soldiers.

Furthermore, this is about politics, we have discussed this already during the avalanche thread... The NS politician was acting like a hero as if he is saving human lives by withdrawing alone. India will say thank you for K2.

Yeah, will change my "Indian" mindset when you start putting chaps like Hafiz Saeed in the correct place that chaps like him should be in. As for lives lost, they were lost in Mumbai too & far more than you just lost in your horrific incident but didn't see Pakistan treating it with the importance that the matter deserved.

You are the chaps doing the whining, any disengagement will be on terms acceptable to us or will not happen. Whining about lives lost does not become you because you certainly have shown no interest or sadness in Indian lives lost anywhere including as a result of the actions of Pakistani citizens.

The only "absurdity". is in the silly Pakistani hope that they will get something for nothing.

Just because India said so, we cannot put someone in jail. He was arrested but the prosecutor could not find evidence that would link him with Mumbai carnage and hence the courts released him. Your plain disregard for our Judaical system another thing but the fact is that there is a system and he is innocent until proven guilty.
Sadly you see our initiative for peace as whining but then again its not surprising consider what you guys are taught at school. Of course any disengagement would be on terms acceptable to both, i don't see how Imran Khan's statement irked many here and why?
As for not showing any interest or sadness on Indian lives lost, that is just your perception, nothing to do with ground reality, but then again i am not here to change your perception. You can continue to live with your hate, its of simply no importance to anyone at all.
