Pakistan Mulls NATO Offer to Ship Afghan Supplies Through Gwadar Port

Why should Pakistan offer this route, after all the humiliation by the ungrateful Americans, They have become a major security risk, with do more mantra.

. .
This is a US attempt to counter he the recent Chinese port news.
If this news is true the rational behind it might be to make Balochistan important and have them depend heavily on it. In this case the US wouldn't want Balochistan to break from Pakistan as others intend to do this. Either way this isn't confirmed. All News outlets should not be trusted.
US wouldnt want Balochistan to break from Pakistan? Oh yes they wouldnt want that genius, but they would defintiely want the Iranian Baluchistan to break away....or maybe have Gwadar neutralized .. How old are you?

Business is business. For the right amount. This would get Gwadar rolling. This would only go through if China cleared this.

I can understand where you coming from, but the US needs to stop bashing Pakistan and asking do more demands, Pakistan has done more than its share.

Those new roads are that of pakistan and its their choice what they do with it or which general gets nearby land to fix punctures.

Chabahar is definitely an alternative route to CPEC to reach Afghanistan and central asian countries. It is operational. Who and What goods are approved by both partners Iran and India.
Have you forgotten it's in Iran and Iran is hated by the hillbillies and is under sanctions. Duhhhh I was educated in India....thinking is not my forte

China will agree with it. And indeed I would bet few Yuans that China might even be pushing for it. The reasons are simple. Everybody knows blocking US logistics and ATT will be short term. Nobody in their right minds expects that Pakistan will block US/ATT supply permanently. Not sure if even China would agree with that or support such a policy. The Chinese are 100 times stronger then Pakistan but their approach with US is deft and moving forward with extreme care. It is not brutalistic. Besides Pak political and military leadership has been bought out by Saudi's. And Saudi's are US poodles. Theefore I can't see Pak leadership crapping on two tiers of overlordship anytime soon. Posturing yes. Real substance no.

However the reason this is great idea is it offers benefits on many vital fronts. First if NATO/ATT use Gwadar it will give it a starting boost which will help to bring in extra business. The port will begin to flourish with NATO/ATT providing the required boost. This would then be great international exposure to Gwadar as a functioning post. In addition it would reduce dependance on Karachi/Port Qasim which MQM uses to raise funding from the "toll" it extracts from containers. So this is win win for all.

@Chinese-Dragon

The Chinese are likely to bid on transporting all containers to Afghanistan, given half a chance.
I bet that they are able to negotiate the price down a lot, compared to what is paid today.

I'm just saying what Pakistan would be thinking if they would go ahead with this decision. It's called reading comprehension; learn some of it. I am against it.

Do not fall into this trap again Pakistan. They were dependant on Karachi yet we saw how insugency was still going on unchecked in Karachi

Gwadar is a lifeline for Pakistan. It WILL be hijacked by deceptive deceitful gora devils. It will scare away vital trade and investment. Do not make this mistake.

As soon as we give them access to Gwadar Port, we will see BLA and BRA with NATO and American Standard Automatic Rifles ..

I am happy for this deal and both parties will have to find out a way to move forward.

As far as chabahar is concerned, neither Iran nor India will be offering the route. Since this is a trading route any divergence will bring strategic and political problems. I don't think US will believe on Iran for secure transportation of Goods.

I don't mind if the donkeys fly on that side of border or I get gold medals.

Please check my previous post hopefully you get a little more clarity.

As for the Bolded, I AGREE.

Gwadar should be kept war free zone. Has to remain neutral to drive investment. Perception is more important than a few dollars.

Technically, Pakistan has no need to ask China. The decision is completely theirs. Sad that it has come to a point where the first thought is "Would China sign!".

I doubt China would even waste time on this. It doesn't matter to them even a micro fraction of Pakistan.

How old do you think our soldiers are? They just want a route! calm down, it probably only be granted if Pakistan doesn't object to their future plans in Afghanistan or Baluchistan. This maybe the start of Afghan trade through Gwadar and maybe Americans would make sure the bulk of Afghan overseas trade goes through Gwadar   and opens up Afghanistan for transit to central asia.

Was NATO sleeping all those years? Didn't they knew before that Gwadar is more near to Qandhar, than port Qasim!?
Wasn't Gwadar and infrastructure to carry goods through Baluchistan developed recently? I think it wasn't adequately developed till recently and was probably unreliable in their calculation.

This is the most stupid comment i have seen in a while..
How much NATO supplies have helped Karachi in getting stabilized since 2002?
Do you think they would have a deal with BLA to not target their supplies? This is an "offer" supposedly there will be favors bestowed on Pakistan.

But question arises why do they want Gwadar?

I thought a lot about this offer and also discussed with my friends here. I could see a lot of pros but it can't be so straight forward. USA has never been sincere or beneficial to Pakistan. A country that is transporting ISIS into Afghanistan to destabilise Pakistan So I would say.... "No" or do a lot of home work.

Well!!! there could be a few reasons (1) CPEC was not ready (2) They want to lessen the tension post Trump tweet (3) They have some nefarious and evil design
