The idea is to operate oplot m and alkhalid 2 on the same engine and transmission (1500h, automatic) as we saw with t-80ud and Alkhalid/ Alkhalid1. Though AK houses a more powerful version, it is still the same 6td series having similar dimensions but with increased output.

However, Oplot M will first have to successfully prove its worth during trials.

Altay is not an an option as AK 2 will fill the slot of next generation mbt in army. Even with all the goodies and addons, AK 2 WOULD still be lighter and cheaper than Altay, and will pack a similar, if not more powerful punch.

The only issue with OPLOT was engine but other than that we loved the Tank and now it seem they have resolved the engine problem

OPLOT M is good but it would be tested again soon. I think it would work this time. We liked the Tank but issue was engine and now it seem engine issue is resolved for good

ukrainians have proved very reliable suppliers in past.we should take our relatons to next level and get tot for this engine which will creat a complete new industry in pakistan for engine manufacturing.

Sir there is engine and there is OPLOT M and there is lot of new Anti Tank stuff also hearing about some Air Defence and MRAP and also ship engines and few other stuff. So there is lot of stuff which we can get from Ukraine. But this visit seems to be related to engine and OPLOT M @Dazzler @balixd @DESERT FIGHTER


Sir the OPLOT M we tested was with 1500 HP engine. The engine had few issues otherwise we loved OPLOT M. But now it seem Ukraine as it promised to resolve engine issue has managed to do it and we are opting for engine and Oplot M as well and with TOT

AK-I is already in service and being marketed... Did you mean more focus as in on production ?

I told you prototype existed AK-2 is going to be great beast. By the way my source suggest that Turkey was major in help in AK-2 project ? Can you confirm this ????

I think OPLOT M and and engine both will come. After all you can use one engine in different Tanks and still Tanka can be totally different from one another

Well yes if we can manage to get the engine (it sill come with OPLOT M for sure but when i say the engine will come i mean that we get that with complete ToT and can start manufacturing in Pakistan) it will be great. All i can pray and wish for (once this happens, ie, the engine ToT is secured) is that OPLOT M were merely deal sweeteners and we keep pursuing a new MBT option (again, call it Al Haider or AK2 or whatever). The potential of any such project will be HUGE. We have discussed that in the past, me and @Bilal Khan (Quwa) and @Dazzler . Not that whether it will happen or not but WHAT IT IF DOES HAPPENS!! That will be great for us and will answers all our needs for decades.


Bringing it down a notch, an engine purchase with maintenance and overhauling facility along side some spare manufacturing is what is more realistic and will STILL BE GREAT. However i do hope that we push them for ToT, take that big step now as this is perhaps THE BEST opportunity (read Ukrainian crisis and problems with Russians)
