Pakistani channels are not formally banned, they do it other way by not allowing licenses.

@ freeking, is QTV all??? from hundereds of Pakistani channels!!!!

its pretty clear its targeted audiences are muslims and also it has nothing to do with culture & politics and that's how we are kept at bay.
How many entertainment seekers would u find watching QTV???

Also, Pakistan shouldn't ban bollywood movies from our past experience we've learnt that this has resulted in collapse for our cenimas.

To make our industry gov should fund project like they did with Khuda k liye, (as far as i know gov funded it too along with geo).

If we have a running industry and then we ban bollywood movies would make some sense, in a way to provide more market for Pakistani movies.

Otherwise such ban would be same as banning japenese and german cars in Pakistan in a hope that out of somewhere our car industry will pop up!!!

Some people have told me that no Pakistani channels are shown in india and some of the members have mentioned that they are. Thats why I want to know from indian member if they REALLY are banned. If they aren't then there should be no problem with indian stuff like movies being shown in Pakistan but if they are then thats wrong.

i think PTV was banned many years ago . QTV and ARY are shown here. dont know about other pakistani channels becoz my cable operator does not provides them. i dont think pay pakistani channels wud be provided by cable operators as there r already so many indian channels and few ppl wud like to pay for pakistani channels in india as all(almost) are obssesed with saas bahu sagas in star, zee nd sony . pakistani channels will have few takers.

yes I have , i used to watch Ptv until a few yrs back, but it been some time now..since Indian private Tv channels caught on there has been cut throat competition.. these days you can hardly glimpse Doodarshan.

Well some people are saying they haven't seen Pakistani channels ever or only seen one, so its really confusing. Anyways my whole point was that if Pakistani channels arent shown in india, then I'm for banning indian channels/movies cause thats unfair. Plus that may or may not help the Pakistani film industry, who knows. But if they aren't then theres really nothing wrong with them ( except indian news channels) being shown in Pakistan.

I dont get why they're just banning it just for Eid? If they want to ban bollywood, then ban it permanently

i think ban on indian movies permanantly esp uprooting any pirated sales in the country and banning all high PG rated english movies too..

I have a set top box and I remember clearly that before 26/11 I could watch many Pakistani channels. I had the Pakistani MTV (it was MTV 2 for me)..but I didn't watch them because they were boring and no match for the Indian channels.

these masala chaanels will be viewed, accompanied by THHAA THUUU THHHEEE, DAAR DAAR kinda music background, seems like people can have heart attack listening to these high pitched sound played back repeatedly!!!, DDDDAAAARRRRNNNN!!

I think it was banned at the time of kargil...since it was govt controlled channel a lot of govt propaganda was being aired on the news

yes you are right . it was banned during NDA rule. only PTV was banned and it was on news too. i guess no other pakistani channel is banned in india except PTV

Now that would be silly...you should take your decisions based on your own country's needs, and not follow Tit for Tat policy to match Indian govt.

Only few years back there was ptv (news) but now we can't see any pakistani channel.

Why not, I've met Indian people that like pakistani dramas. Our singers are in high demand in India arent they?

Nobody said pak industry will collapse... i was commenting on your tit for tat policy of banning channels.

usually countries usually put their own advantages before...their rival's disadvantages.

eg India has given MFN status to Pak ..but Pak govt does not respond favorably because it does not consider it beneficial for Pakistan..

as for banning Indian channels and its effects well the "proof of pudding is in the eating".
