Pakistan military has been ranked as the 11th strongest military in the world, as per a Credit Suisse report on globalisation.

Ranked seven spots after India’s military, the report gives Pakistan a final military strength score of 0.41. Further, the report reveals that Pakistan’s active personnel number stands at 710,000 and has it more weaponry than Germany, Australia, and Canada.

The report ranks the strength of 20 countries according to weaponry, including tanks, aircraft, helicopters and submarines, each country represents.

The US is listed as number one followed by Russia, China, Japan and India in the top five.

The report said, “Our analysis reveals the military superiority of the United States in conventional war capabilities compared to its close rivals. Its fleet of 13,900 aircraft, 920 attack helicopters, 20 aircraft carriers and 72 submarines far outweighs the military might of any of its close rivals and so does its defense spending worth $610 billion in 2014, which is far more than the combined military expenditures of the next nine countries in our index.”

“In reality, in today’s nuclear era, conventional forces are not the only indicator of military strength. Russia and the United States account for more than 90% of global inventories of nuclear weapons according to data provided by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI) Yearbook 2015,” it added.

And yet we cant do anything against a country like Afghanistan who regularly hosts anti Pakistan elements and give them a save heaven.

No country likes to be bombed by foreigners , no matter who they align themselves with. Infact , surgical airstrikes inside Afghanistan would be really effortless for the PAF , but by doing this we might end up alienating those who want peace with us. The political and diplomatic repercussions are not worth it. If things keep going the way they are , then Afghan's would themselves beg us to carry out airstrikes in their homeland .

Its more like lack of political will rather than lack of military capability.

I would careless what a country like Afghanistan thinks about us. Our appeasement policy needs to be buried down in the deepest hole we can find. Its high time Pakistan starts acting like a force that we are and not some wannabe Atami Taqakat.

And have a permanent enemy at both fronts. Although the idea of strategic depth has been some what relinquished by our policy makers . We still cant afford a hostile Afghanistan. The number of troops on the eastern front has been reduced by 180k , because of the operations in the western front. Having Nuclear weapons doesn't win you a proxy war. Furthermore , striking afghanistan ,while US and ISAF are still present will bring a number of diplomatic consequences ,which at this crucial time we cant afford.

Pakistan must be second to none in the region. India though shows more numbers but in actual wars numbers do not always matter. Its the strategy and moral courage that matters.

oh yeah? i am sure that India will fair better that pakistan in those areas too.

stupid ranking, what makes them think that japanese military is stronger than that of India's. hey japanese, do you remember the valour of the Indian troops of WW 2. equipments have changed, men still have the same substance.

So aircrafts and aircraft carriers have dragged Pak down, otherwise we'd be around 6~7 if individual categories carry equal weights.
